What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
The challenge of explaining a concept in different ways which best suits the learning style of the student attracts me to tutoring. Additionally being able to be there when a student has a 'light bulb' moment when they understand a concept they had been struggling with is also a positive. Lastly, seeing an improvement in a student to reach their goal is probably the best characteristic of being a tutor.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
Patience is important as a tutor and I believe I have the patience to allow the student to properly understand concepts. I also believe that I have the ability to explain concepts clearly using multiple strategies such as mnemonics and analogies. I also understand that simply memorising things is less effective, therefore, I like to ensure the student not only knows the content but understands it and is able to apply it appropriately.
Lastly, I enjoy the teaching and improvement aspect of tutoring and do not do it solely for the income (evidenced by my school days).
Most important things I can do for a student π
The best thing a tutor can do for a student is inspire them, bring the joy in learning, and change a students mindset to not give up but to instead try harder. A tutor should be able to motivate the student. They should also be able to understand the ways the student learns best to ensure they are effective in their teaching. They should teach the content in ways which is applicable to their assessments (such as how they are seen in questions or how they can be applied).
