Since then I have learnt about various learning cycles and styles of learning in mentoring modules. I think as a tutor, the most important thing you can do for a student is help them acquire "tools" for their metaphorical toolbox. Each concept learnt within a subject is a tool that they can use to tackle a bigger problem within the exam setting. I think letting the student practice using these tools is an important part of learning process, making sure that they thoroughly understand the tool, how to use or apply the tool and where the tool might come from, rather then just giving them the answer or working to a hard problem.
