Legal Studies Tutor Upper Caboolture, QLD
I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to show the student that they can have fun while they learn. I am a very patient person and I am able to explain things in a variety of different ways, a skill, that I believe, of vital importance to a tutor. I also love coming up with different ways to make sessions as fun as…

Jason is great. Harry relates to him well and he is covering off the areas Harry is struggling with.

Inside Wamuran BasinTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Darell focused on prime and composite numbers as well as square and triangular numbers, using practice tests to check understanding.

In Year 9, Rebecca worked through simplifying ratios and revising rates with targeted textbook questions.

For Year 11, Joshua concentrated on trigonometry topics including the sine rule and cosine rule, plus practiced transposing equations in preparation for upcoming class assessments.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10 Maths, one student's inconsistent note-taking—"needs to keep notes in one cohesive notebook"—meant he struggled to recall formulas during study and exam preparation.

For a Year 8 class, over-reliance on working out answers mentally (rather than aloud or on paper) led to missed steps and confusion when solving algebraic fractions.

A Year 6 student avoided practicing unfamiliar multiplication tables at home; as noted, "didn't do any more of his homework in the last week," so progress slowed compared to peers.

After missing school, a senior student fell behind because catch-up work was not self-initiated.

Recent Achievements

One Wamuran Basin tutor noticed that Joshua, a high school student, has begun to ask more questions during sessions instead of quietly moving on when he's unsure—a big shift from his earlier reluctance.

Rebecca, also in high school, is now comfortable admitting when she doesn't understand something and can identify specific topics she needs help with; previously, she hesitated to speak up about her struggles.

In primary years, Summer recently started solving problems independently without prompting, showing new initiative after weeks of needing step-by-step guidance.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I am very happy with Rachel. She is very professional and her and Samantha have developed a good working relationship. Samantha has expressed to me that Rachel explains things really well and now she is understanding concepts she hadn't previously.

As you say it is hard to gauge the impact this early, however they seem to have a few laughs and Steve has said Jack is a lot faster in his response time. So that's progress considering Jack's willingness to begin extra learning was very poor. It didn't take more than 2 lessons for that to change. To date we are happy and are glad we didn't leave it any later, as it it the beginning of term I'm sure i will be getting feedback from Jack's teacher through the term on his improvement.I look forward to that. We want him to enjoy all lessons not dread the thought of attending classes. So far so good, Steve seems like a great match.

I just wanted to let you know how very happy we are with Tianna's tutor, Josephine. Josephine is so bubbly, easy going, very patient and great at teaching Maths and making it fun to learn.   Tianna is quite taken with Josephine, has built a great rapport with her and has made huge progress with her algebra in the short while Josephine has been tutoring her. Josephine is definitely a great asset to your company and we are so happy she is Tianna's tutor

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Woodford Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Wamuran State School.
