Firstly, I believe developing a strong relationship with a student is one of the most important things a student can do. This shows trust and allows students to give their full potential during sessions. Another important part of tutoring is to have a clear and well designed plan for the session ahead, which makes both the student and tutor have a…

teach understanding of a topic rather than how to do a problem so the student can tackle more difficult problems on there own without help. With understanding you can answer any question. I can approach and understand difficult problems and take away the unneeded parts making it easier for others to understand it. I am also easy to talk to and so…

I believe the most important thing a maths tutor can do for a student is to make them feel good about themselves. I feel it is essential that they do this through teaching so that the student feels happy when they start to understand and do stuff they were orginally having trouble over. I am a bright and bubbly person. I will never judge people…

A tutor should focus more on the foundation of the student and focus more on the basics of the subject. Also, corelating the subject with real-life examples could make learning easier and more interesting. I believe I have the right amount of patience required to tutor students. I feel that the most important things a maths tutor can do for a student is to act as a source of information throughout their time of studying. I strongly believe in individual behavioral and learning differences amongst students. As such, students have their own, sometimes unique, individual attributes which should be closely assessed / monitored by the tutor. Fiona, Warrandyte

Inside Warrandyte SouthTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student worked on adding and multiplying fractions with different denominators, as well as converting fractions to decimals.

For Year 9, Sarah practiced simplifying expressions involving surds and rationalising denominators.

In Year 10, Daniel reviewed the discriminant to determine the number of roots for quadratics and solved quadratic equations using the quadratic formula, also practicing simplification of surds and indices.

Recent Challenges

Needs to try working independently and thinking actively instead of just waiting and copying the solutions. This slowed their confidence in tackling unfamiliar arithmetic.

In Year 11, one student relied heavily on notes during matrix operations and struggled when asked to solve without help; messy layout also made reviewing errors difficult.

A senior Methods student brought an excessive bundle of notes into revision sessions, making it hard to locate key formulas quickly—leaving them pressed for time during test planning.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Warrandyte South recently noticed a big shift for one Year 11 student who started openly acknowledging mistakes during revision, rather than feeling flustered or rushing ahead—she now stops to reflect and then applies new strategies from past lessons.

Another high school student, Sanjeev, had previously hesitated to ask questions but has begun raising his own points of confusion when tackling matrices; once explained, he quickly applies the concepts himself.

In Year 6, Tyler showed newfound independence by completing two and a half worksheets in one session without reminders or prompts.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Sean has a true talent for tutoring. James has bonded so well with him already, he looks forward to his sessions and already the class teacher has advised that he is understanding concepts better and may move him up a level in maths! I'm very happy with his progress. We are glad that Sean has picked up on James' difficulties and appreciate his genuine care for James' progress.

I have no doubt it was Nicole's tuition that increased Eden's understanding & test results to an acceptable level (in fact, a little beyond that). Nicole is friendly, approachable, knowledgeable & expresses her ideas in a manner that suited Eden, I felt she was able to adapt her teaching methods to cater to Eden's learning style, which is an incredibly valuable skill as a teacher/tutor.

I enjoyed working with the team and I found tutoring with EzyMath Tutoring to be an incredibly rewarding experience. I would recommend any high school or primary school student to request tutoring through EzyMath Tutoring as I believe the staff organises tutoring incredibly well and provide an incredible amount of educational material to EzyMath Tutoring tutors. I would personally thank you for all your help and encouragement throughout the program.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Warrandyte Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Donvale Christian College - Hall Road Campus.
