One of the most important thing a tutor can do is to encourage their students to strive for success , but more importantly to help students learn topics in a fun way rather than being forced to study Some of my strengths as a tutor include patience , encouragement and ability to tutor each child according to their needs and wants , and not pushing…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is make the student like the subject which the fear or hate the most. I think my biggest achievement as a tutor was when a student of mine struggling with Maths came to me and after attending my tuition for a year, she fell in love with the subject she feared the most. Hence, to be able to…

I think patience is the biggest key factor as without that there can be no way a tutor could help a student. Learning new things can be tricky and scary which is why a tutor must be able to understand a student's learning pace, be able to communicate thoroughly and also make the learning experience a fun one I am a very patient person which I…

I think the most important things a tutor can do are to create a safe, supportive environment and to make learning feel achievable and enjoyable. For younger students especially, its important to build their confidence and help them develop good learning habits early on. Listening to a student is the most important thing a tutor can do. It allows you to prepare better for future sessions and meet the needs of the students. It also helps you modify your teaching approach to keep the students engaged in the class. I believe my approach to teaching is efficient as I break down concepts to the basics and use multiple…

I think tutor should do everything for his or her students because after the parents only teacher is one person who can very closed for the student. Tutor should look after their students and if they have any bad habit then it's tutor responsibility to guide them in right direction and also inform their parents. Tutor can make hard subject into…

If I can make a student begin thinking more about the subject than just a grade to obtain, I would have felt that I made one more curious person. Curiosity is the root of knowledge in my opinion, and it would be the seed that I can share with the students that I engage with. I believe, they would lie in science, especially with regard to my…

Above all else, I believe a tutor should prioritise student wellbeing. Beyond academic achievement, it's essential to foster a sense of belonging, confidence and self-worth in each student. This involves attentive listening, emotional support, and creating a safe, judgement-free space. Additionally, empowering students to take ownership of their…

Ensure that the student is gaining confidence and is improving. I believe its not the final result that counts, but its ensuring the student's mental health is taken care or whilst the student is experiencing a steady improvement. Local Reviews

Everything is going very well, thank you very much, we are very happy with the tutoring Harshdeep is providing to Manon, he is very thorough.
Magali, West Leederville

Inside West LeedervilleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Ava focused on converting between decimals and fractions as well as practising division with decimals.

Year 10 student Lewis worked through practical applications of quadratics, creating a page of summary notes to prepare for his exam.

For Year 12, Emily tackled calculus skills such as maximising and minimising functions using differentiation, along with kinematics problems involving motion graphs.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8, one student often skipped drawing diagrams for trigonometry questions, which made it harder to spot angle domains and led to repeated errors.

During a Year 10 test, forgetting to keep track of units meant extra time was spent correcting conversions rather than moving forward with the main problems.

A senior (Year 12) learner "missed feedback from earlier attempts," as a tutor noted, resulting in the same algebraic sign mistakes showing up again when working through quadratic factorisation.

In each case, small process gaps snowballed—turning manageable tasks into lingering hurdles.

Recent Achievements

One West Leederville tutor noticed a big shift with a Year 11 student who had struggled to connect graphs and equations—now, he's confidently drawing linear and piecewise graphs from their equations and can also work backwards, deriving equations from the graphs.

A Year 9 student who used to mix up mean, median, mode, and range is now able to find each one correctly in different data sets without hesitation.

Meanwhile, a younger student in Year 5 began asking for help when adding or subtracting negative numbers instead of guessing, especially after working through the ladder analogy together.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Subiaco Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like West Leederville Primary School.
