The most important things a tutor can do for a student are to form strong relationships with them by getting to know them more personally, supporting the students through both academic success and struggles, and both knowing the students and understanding their mood or concerns. Local Reviews

Katherine has really made a huge difference to our Daughter already and it has only been 4 sessions. Her confidence in her work has greatly improved and she is enjoying school again. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ezymathtutoring to anyone looking for help with school work

Inside West NowraTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Ali worked on basic trigonometry and finding the area of composite shapes, focusing on breaking down complex diagrams.

In Year 10, Zoe revised solving two-step equations and practiced algebraic factorisation with targeted examples from her classwork.

For Year 12, Mia tackled critical path analysis in networks by drawing network diagrams and calculating earliest start/finish times, as well as working through HSC-style questions on minimum spanning trees.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9, one student's tendency to only show partial working in multi-step ratio and financial problems meant "steps for 3–4 mark questions were skipped," leading to lost marks despite knowing the process.

A Year 12 student preparing for HSC finance found it challenging to read complex questions closely—she sometimes missed rounding instructions or key details, as noted: "reading question carefully to understand exactly what is being asked" was flagged as an area for growth.

In Year 10 trigonometry, another student's reliance on memorised rules over understanding relationships between graphs and formulas slowed progress with non-right-angled triangles.

Recent Achievements

Andrea, who previously struggled to spot her mistakes, is now actively recognising where she goes wrong on exams and can explain better approaches herself.

In another session, Laaibah—who once hesitated on multi-step network problems—now works through minimum spanning tree questions independently and even explains her reasoning out loud.

For a younger student, picking up two-step equations had been tricky at first, but last week he solved a challenging composite shape problem using trigonometry with little prompting.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Delila is a delight! She has established a great rapport with Isabella in the two lessons so far; and has expressed a commitment to helping Isabella in the long term. She has a lovely personality; and Isabella really really likes her already. I could not be more pleased.

Hi Tristan, Thank you for tutoring Macgregor, I have often found it difficult to motivate him to do homework and I have found your calm encouraging and persistent approach works very well with him. You are really great at keeping him engaged and focused at the same time, and work very well with him. You follow everything through in a sound, structured and well thought out way. I find your approach very professional. I have also found you very flexible and reliable and adapt to whatever Macgregor needs. Most importantly, Macgregor loves working with you and enjoys the way work with him. I look forward to seeing you continue to work with Macgregor next term.

Kai is really enjoying his lessons with Noah! He's got a great way of connecting with Kai. Kai mentioned that Noah explains the reasons instead of doing things by rote. He gets him to think before explaining the answer. Very happy with him!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Nowra (Central) Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St John the Evangelist Catholic High School.
