Changing the perspective of the subject. I know too many teachers that have made an already challenging subject even more difficult. I want to be a tutor who encourages students to excel in math by demonstrating that it is not as difficult as it may seem. Teachers frequently introduce additional steps without explaining their rationale, in my…

Through this, I believe that I'm setting students up for future success by showing them how exciting and engaging learning is, and the study skills necessary to pursue this. But more importantly,…

Patience, admitting if I don't know content (and then researching it for next time), time management skills, the ability to re-explain concepts in different…

In addition to teaching academic knowledge, tutors need to point out directions for students and divide difficult tasks into steps to cultivate students' problem-solving ability. One of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to be proud of all the improvements the student has done. It's not about congratulating them for being a high achieving student. Instead, we should congratulate them for any improvement that they have done, since that is one step closer to success. I believe one of my strengths is…

Good tutors should be able to help students improve and not dependent on them, they should be able to help a student solve problems and not simply giving them answers. In addition, tutors also have to be patient as not all students have the same learning abilities. Lastly, I think a tutor should put in the effort to understand both the materials…

A tutor can be kind and patient with the student and open to any kind of question, however basic it might be and not ridicule the child. I have learnt to…

Inside WindsorTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Nicholas practised converting mixed numbers to decimals and ordering decimals, then moved on to rounding decimals to different place values.

In Year 9, Ava worked through SOH-CAH-TOA trigonometry rules for right triangles and solved word problems using the Pythagorean theorem.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Matthew focused on expanding and factorising algebraic expressions—including perfect squares—and applied these skills in exercises involving difference of two squares.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Mathematics, incomplete homework meant key credit card and interest concepts were forgotten—this showed up in quiz struggles. "A significant amount of knowledge...was lost over the last week due to incompletion of homework," a tutor noted.

In Physics (Year 12), written work for mechanics topics was sometimes hard to follow, with missed steps during multi-part calculations leading to errors that slowed progress on Module 5 questions.

For a Year 8 student, skipping working on paper and relying only on mental maths led to confusion in algebra problems; this habit made it harder to spot where mistakes crept in.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Windsor noticed one high school student who used to skip note-taking now diligently writes down key tips and even refers back to them when tackling new material.

Another secondary student, after weeks of struggling with logarithms, finally began applying log rules independently during practice questions, marking a real turning point in their understanding.

In Year 4, a younger learner who often guessed at answers started raising her hand to ask clarifying questions instead—showing she's becoming more comfortable seeking help rather than staying silent or guessing.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We are very happy with Simon. Ryan has taken to the tutoring really well. One on one has really helped as he cannot get distracted by other kids and Simon keeps him on his toes and listening attentively.

I would like to say that Miranda is an outstanding, caring and patient tutor. She has a gift for working with kids. She is a huge asset to your company and the ezymath family.

We are thrilled with Ross he is so knowledgeable and has a great rapport with James already. Very happy customers.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Prahran / Windsor Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Windsor Primary School.
