I think that it is imperative for the tutor to try their hardest to create a passion for the subject in the student, as this will motivate them to try as hard as they can. My passion for maths not only motivated me to study but enabled me to thoroughly enjoy and look forward to every lesson. It is also important that the tutor has an open mindset…

Help them learn in a different way! Help them see things from a different perspective! As a Queer non-binary writer, I can introduce them to new thoughts and ideas around certain traditional aspects of writing and reading. What I want is for my students to walk away with even more understanding of their certain topic/study area and that they…

Personally, when I was a student the most important effect of good teachers and tutors was regaining confidence in myself. They showed me that it was okay to fail, how to bounce back, and how to learn from my mistakes. Having a strong education is a wonderful thing, but having been through the whole K-12-Uni-Workforce pipeline by far the best…

Think to pass the belief that the student can achieve the goal. It is just the matter of working hard and maybe trying different approach. And also not comparing yourself to other students, because everyone is unique. I, myself, was in a situation where I had very low marks in Math and Science subjects, but I worked hard and I saw my brain change…

I believe a tutor can make all the difference to a student struggling with their studies. School teaching can often be mechanical and impersonal; an environment where some students find it difficult to learn. I know first hand that teaching in smaller groups or one-on-one works is much more effective at learning hard to grasp concepts. The impact…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is allow them to feel comfortable and confident in their own knowledge. Personal connection would be my important factor in tutoring, having a good basic relationship and being able to build upon that will make communicating to the student much easier. I think the most important things a tutor can do are to create a supportive environment, encourage curiosity, and build the student’s confidence in their own abilities. A tutor can help improve a student in academic success. In a classroom setting a teacher has to cover a specific amount of content within a particular time period, some students can pick up the content very easily while others may lag behind on the content. A tutor however solves this issue by understanding the student's strengths and weaknesses…

I strongly believe the student should be interested in the subject. And I think, it is the role of the tutor to create that interest. The tutor's success is similar to that of a doctor. You succeed when you are no longer needed. I am a student and understand very well the issues students face when doing sums and exams. I believe I have mastered…

Local Reviews

El-Abed is a great tutor. He is very dedicated and is passionate about maths. This translates very well with his tutoring style. El-Abed is very patient with his students, and really takes the time to explain each problem. Communication between the Ezymath office and myself is excellent. They respond in a timely manner, and are very supportive with any issues.

Inside Wolli CreekTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Sophie focused on cylinders and circles, as well as comparing discrete and continuous data sets using mean, median, and mode.

In Year 11, Ethan practised solving trigonometric functions within restricted domains and worked on graphing these functions for clarity.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Emily applied differentiation rules to find equations of tangents and normals to curves, alongside further revision of rates of change using exam-style questions.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Advanced Maths, one student struggled with exam time management—"please also be mindful to allocate the time accordingly to the marks"—resulting in rushed explanations despite strong understanding.

Another in Year 10 Mathematics avoided showing full working for algebraic steps, which hid sign errors and slowed feedback.

In Year 8 Science, note-taking habits were inconsistent, leading to missed key terms during revision.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 learner found it hard to follow story sequencing and often skipped reading back aloud, making comprehension and problem-solving more difficult when tackling worded maths questions.

Recent Achievements

One Wolli Creek tutor noticed a Year 11 student who previously hesitated to tackle harder calculus problems now choosing to graph complex derivatives independently, applying rules for trigonometric and exponential functions without prompting.

In a Year 9 session, another student who used to skip practice questions in probability began working through each step aloud, asking clarifying questions rather than guessing—showing much more initiative than before.

Meanwhile, a younger learner in Year 4 has started sounding out unfamiliar words with little encouragement and can now retell stories in her own words after reading each chapter.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Arncliffe Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Al Zahra College.
