Being patient. A lot of teachers get frustrated when students do not understand concepts the way they teach them. It is important to teach every student in their own way and be patient with the teaching process. Otherwise a student's confidence and motivation to learn is harmed. My biggest strength would be communication. I am adept at explaining…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is listening to them to truly understand what their needs and goals are. I also think it is important for a tutor to establish a link with the student, to make the lesson less "formal" and more enjoyable for the student as he/she would learn better if the environment is less stressful. As I am…

The most valuable duty of a tutor is to focus on the holistic development of a student, allowing them to be persistent, independent and problem-solving to tackle any academic or life challenge. My strengths are my simplistic and analogy-based approach to explaining concepts, and my emphasis on exam technique that allows students to feel…

A tutor should ensure the student has grasped a conceptual understanding of a topic, not a superficial one. It's highly important that they encourage students to continue asking questions for clarification on grey areas, instead of leaving it ambiguous. I'm very friendly and approachable to children, so I believe my strength lies in being able to…

I consider the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to encourage and empower them. I believe most students can learn most subjects/tasks but it's just about finding the way of learning that works for them. I am positive and encouraging. I believe a student can learn anything if they are engaged in the subject matter and they have…

Make them enjoy a subject. as a teacher you can only do so much when it comes to teaching. you can give them all the work, call them, and pester them, but if they don't like it they will never excel in it. I think a tutor should be able to have the necessary resources for a student. Extra learning content that students can’t easily retrieve should be available with tutors. I am in a position to provide those resources. I am patient, and I am kind and try to teach in ways that they will enjoy. I also have tricks that I would love to share since…

The tutor's first job is converting hard 'textbook language' to easy and illustrative concepts. Next is polishing the student's skills with extensive exercises while making sure he has time for other hobbies. It helps if the tutor is aware of things such as fun interactive quizzes or videos that helps makes concepts seem simpler while also keeping…

It is essential that the student feels comfortable learning, and as a tutor I think it is our job to achieve this. Not only should the student feel relaxed while in class, they should start to gain interest in what they are learning. I think at least a tutor can do on the practical aspect is to help the student achieve their goals, lead them and…

Apart from general academic support, I think it's very important for tutors to identify students' learning gaps, and provide constructive feedbacks. The most important thing a math tutor can do for a student is help them build confidence. From my experience, most students understand math but are afraid of it. Being scared of math makes it more likely for students to make mistakes. My HSC maths teacher used to say that to be able to understand mathematics, one must understand the basics of it…

A tutor is someone that a student can rely on for support. They are pragmatic in finding ways to ensure the student has a positive experience with learning. Local Reviews

El-Abed is a great tutor. He is very dedicated and is passionate about maths. This translates very well with his tutoring style. El-Abed is very patient with his students, and really takes the time to explain each problem. Communication between the Ezymath office and myself is excellent. They respond in a timely manner, and are very supportive with any issues.

Inside Wolli CreekTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Sophie focused on cylinders and circles, as well as comparing discrete and continuous data sets using mean, median, and mode.

In Year 11, Ethan practised solving trigonometric functions within restricted domains and worked on graphing these functions for clarity.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Emily applied differentiation rules to find equations of tangents and normals to curves, alongside further revision of rates of change using exam-style questions.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Advanced Maths, one student struggled with exam time management—"please also be mindful to allocate the time accordingly to the marks"—resulting in rushed explanations despite strong understanding.

Another in Year 10 Mathematics avoided showing full working for algebraic steps, which hid sign errors and slowed feedback.

In Year 8 Science, note-taking habits were inconsistent, leading to missed key terms during revision.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 learner found it hard to follow story sequencing and often skipped reading back aloud, making comprehension and problem-solving more difficult when tackling worded maths questions.

Recent Achievements

One Wolli Creek tutor noticed a Year 11 student who previously hesitated to tackle harder calculus problems now choosing to graph complex derivatives independently, applying rules for trigonometric and exponential functions without prompting.

In a Year 9 session, another student who used to skip practice questions in probability began working through each step aloud, asking clarifying questions rather than guessing—showing much more initiative than before.

Meanwhile, a younger learner in Year 4 has started sounding out unfamiliar words with little encouragement and can now retell stories in her own words after reading each chapter.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Arncliffe Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Al Zahra College.
