Legal Studies Tutor Woy Woy Bay, NSW
A tutors responsibility isn't to provide answers, but to guide students to find their way of learning and to provide alternative approaches when tackling problem scenarios or questions. To be a successful tutor is to develop students mindsets and enable them to eventually trust in their instinct and decide for themselves the best way to go about a…

I think the most important thing is taking the pressure off being “perfectâ€. There is no such thing as perfection and everyone reaches success differently. What works for one person may not work for another and in standardised exams, this often gets misconstrued, adding to the weight of being the perfect student. My patience and positive…

Legal Studies Tutor Booker Bay, NSW
Provide support both academically and mentally. This can be done through practicing a topic of a subject, and also helping schedule their weeks, so they know they will still have social/leisure time, and maximize their grades and themselves. I am incredibly confident and happy to also learn new things. For example, if a student comes to me and…

Simone's doing great so far with Ashleigh. Working on consolidating her existing knowledge and filling some gaps left by a poor teacher last year. She's giving Ashleigh some 'homework' at this stage which is useful during this consolidation phase.

Inside WondabyneTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Eliza practised partitioning using money examples and worked on column addition with decimals for better accuracy.

In Year 8, Yillen focused on applying the Pythagoras Theorem to solve right-angled triangle problems and explored surface area calculations for various shapes.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Amina reviewed how to find areas of circles, including calculating circumference and identifying parts like radius and diameter, while also touching on sectors and arcs using diagrams.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10 trigonometry, the habit of skipping written working was noted—"she said she could do it in her head," but missing steps led to sign errors when rearranging SOHCAHTOA equations.

A Year 12 student often arrived late and unfocused for online lessons; one session required "almost giving him 80% of the answers" just to keep him engaged.

In a Year 7 lesson on fractions, confusion converting mixed numbers stemmed from only practicing easy examples instead of tackling more challenging ones.

For essay writing in Year 9 English, limited written drafts meant missed opportunities for feedback and vocabulary growth.

Recent Achievements

One Wondabyne tutor recently saw a Year 11 student go from confusion about the Pythagorean theorem to independently solving right-angle triangle problems by the end of their session, something he hadn't managed before.

A high schooler who used to quietly guess now openly asks for help with homework and even requests extra questions when challenged—showing much more initiative than in previous weeks.

In primary, one student surprised her tutor by explaining each step in her maths answers out loud without prompting, where before she'd just write them down and hope for the best.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

My experience with ezymaths was one like a rollercoaster that ended on a high note. What's special about ezymaths is that you will find support and there will be teaching material and teaching strategies available if you get stuck. Overall, as a tutor, you will learn a lot more than you will expect.

For establishing tutors, Ezy Math provides a solid support base to springboard them into the market. Not only does it take out the stress of sourcing and securing clients, but the CEP modules ensure the constant engagement of the learning styles of the tutor, and make it clear that all manner of support is available for those who need it. This programme really sets Ezy Math apart from other services, and allows tutors to blossom into confident, experienced mentors. The in-home service really does provide a unique experience for clients, which they truly appreciate. It also helps to make a clear distinction in students' minds between the lessons offered at school, to the very different style of education tutors have to produce. For all prospective tutors, Ezy Math is a great way to grow comfortable within the industry. Through the guidance of Ezy Math it has been a joy to watch students develop a real confidence because of my tutelage.

I just wanted to express my thanks to you and my son's tutor Sam. With his assistance Grady improved his maths results from virtually failing the subject to achieving a very respectable B + for his end of year  11 final grade. Sam was personable and patient, encouraging and motivating. Even though my son has decided not to continue studying maths in year  12 , I am delighted with the results he was able to achieve ,and the confidence and self- belief he attained. Please pass these comments on to Sam. Again, thank you so much.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Umina Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St John the Baptist Catholic Primary School.
