I believe that as a maths tutor, my most crucial roles involve instilling self-confidence in my students, providing reliability, simplifying complex concepts, and fostering a genuine passion for the subjects they study. In my four years as a teacher in Italy, I've honed my tutoring skills with a strong emphasis on empathy for young minds, coupled…

i believe a maths tutor needs to be encouraging, as confidence is a massive part of improving in anything and a tutor plays a crucial part in building their confidence up. a tutor also needs to be compassionate in order to relate to the student and understand how they think, so they are able to identify what exactly they struggle with and how best…

Tutors cannot think for their students, but what they can do is guide their students to an understanding. This means facilitating understanding by providing a space for students to ask their own questions, receive helpful answers, and be guided through any difficult topics. I believe tutors must teach alongside students by teaching them strategies…

I believe that the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to have an individualised approach and foster a healthy mindset to learning. Understanding each student's unique learning style, strengths, weaknesses, and preferences is essential to maximising their learning potential. Furthermore, encouraging and fostering a positive…

Inside WybungTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Chloe worked on simplifying algebraic expressions using index laws and expanded binomials via the distributive law, with a focus on thinking aloud to clarify steps.

In Year 10, Ben tackled rational versus irrational numbers and practiced rounding values to significant figures, including solving real-world rate problems.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Tom focused on financial mathematics by solving income and taxation word problems and applying simple interest formulas in practical scenarios.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student repeatedly arrived at sessions without having completed assigned homework, which meant time was lost revisiting old tasks instead of moving forward.

In senior years, a Year 11 learner hesitated to attempt unfamiliar questions unless prompted and often waited for hints before starting multi-step problems—"she didn't immediately see the rules to apply without help," as one tutor noted.

For a Year 4 child, confidence issues surfaced during basic times tables practice; even with correct answers, self-doubt slowed her down and made recalling facts harder under pressure.

Missed opportunities to consolidate skills quietly built frustration across all ages.

Recent Achievements

A Wybung tutor noticed a Year 10 student who previously hesitated with algebraic word problems now attempts them more readily, especially after using real-life examples—he even expanded expressions faster than in earlier sessions.

In Year 11, one student has started remembering trigonometric ratios without prompting and independently spotted patterns while re-arranging equations, which had been a sticking point before.

Meanwhile, a Year 3 student who once relied heavily on guidance to solve multiplication questions recently used the expansion method by herself and chose to write out new problems on her whiteboard without being asked.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I chose to work with EzyMath because it was very flexible and I could fit it around my uni schedule. Tutoring has really helped me learn how to explain concepts effectively and also greatly improved my leadership and communication skills. Witnessing my students' gradual improvement in not only their technical skills but their confidence in the subject was extremely rewarding. I would recommend EzyMath to fellow tutors and prospective clients.

I'm an older student studying nursing this term I had a maths calculation exam that required 100% to pass . As you can imagine I was "freaking out !!! " 100% are you crazy !!!!!! . Then I meet Lisa !! she was one of my favorite people !! she was punctual, organised , and willing to spend the extra time if needed ,Lisa  researched  and came up with numerous, exams ,test and quiz's and got me all sorted with all the necessary formulas that where need to  get my brain working again . I actually believed I could do this . It was the happiest text I'd ever sent to notify Lisa I passed !! 100%  Wow ,I would have not been able to do it with out Lisa's help .

Thank you for the report. I wanted to take a moment and thank you for sending Brady to our home to assist Laura with math tuition. He fit's in well and has a nice approach to learning for a young student. Very happy client.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Toukley Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Lake Munmorah Public School.
