Inside Augustine HeightsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Pavit focused on addition and subtraction of large numbers, revisiting homework mistakes to strengthen accuracy.

In Year 8, Olivia tackled the concept of integers and practiced applying operations with positive and negative numbers using worked examples.

For Year 10, Amie prepared for an upcoming biology exam by working through worksheets covering cell structure and function as well as revision on statistics, geometric sequences, and arithmetic sequences.

Recent Challenges

In Year 4, one student was still using fingers for two-digit addition, which slowed progress and led to errors; when subtraction required "borrowing," steps were missed.

Homework was set but not always completed or done correctly—one note stated, "she did them wrong in the homework book again."

In Year 10 maths, anxiety with diagrams and large numbers reduced confidence during problem-solving.

Another high schooler avoided showing working on simultaneous equations in sequence problems, making it harder to catch mistakes; as a tutor noted, "I have given him a test to determine his strengths and weaknesses."

Recent Achievements

One Augustine Heights tutor noticed a Year 4 student who had always relied on counting fingers for subtraction now starting to solve two-digit problems from memory—something he used to avoid.

In a high school science session, Amie, who was previously hesitant when facing unfamiliar revision questions, began attempting them with minimal prompting and showed stronger communication skills in her written assignment.

Meanwhile, an older student who once waited passively for answers has started asking for explanations when stuck and now completes most maths problems independently before checking back.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I find the monthly parent report very informative and am impressed with the standard of tutoring provided by Zev, not to mention his professionalism. If anybody was to ask me about student tutoring I would not hesitate to thoroughly recommend Ezymath tutoring!

Najib is making progress with Daniel and he feels more confident about tackling maths problems. I am sure Daniel will continue to improve under Najib's careful direction.

Before EzyMath, we had tried two different maths tutors for our son Mathew, they have been ok but not great.  I approached EzyMath because Mat wasn't really connecting with the tutors that we had sourced independently.  EzyMath put us in touch with Luke, a Uni student that lived close by. Luke was closer to Mat's age and related to him much better than just another adult telling him what to do.  Luke was flexible and would come on different days if Mat had a test that he needed to prepare for. The other thing that I love about EzyMath is that they do the character vetting for you, it's not just some random out of the paper that says they know how to teach Math.  We are thrilled with Mathew's new found confidence with this subject and would recommend EzyMath to anyone who needs a bit of extra help engaging with a subject and becoming more confident.  Happy kid is a happy parent!  Thank you EzyMath.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Redbank Plains Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like The Springfield Anglican College.
