To be there for a student in a more personal and approachable way than the modern education system and its teachers can be, to help 'fill in the gaps' that the student may have missed in class and to be there for the student if they feel like the education system has failed them. Too many schools focus on the groups needs rather than the…

I believe the most important thing a maths tutor can do for a student is have the willingness to go above and beyond, ensuring their knowledge is correct and doing whatever they need to ensure that they can adequately share that knowledge with whoever they are teaching. My greatest strengths as a tutor would be my willingness to go above and…

My four-year experience extended my ability to be supportive, a crucial skill to achieve positive impact on students’ success. A tutor can improve students' confidence and help them to develop skills to learn independently. Good tutoring should help students to understand that math is not that hard. Being a tutor means possessing skils such as…

To provide them with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in our society, both in academia and in their own personal affairs. Most importantly, to teach them why they should have such, so that they aren't coerced into doing things they don't believe in. Otherwise, they won't be happy and content, and their determination will suffer.…

I think a maths tutor should provide a fun, engaging and different approach to studying. A tutor should ask questions in a way a teacher hasn't got the time to do. They should always ask what the student wants and implement strategies as to how to attain these goals. But, perhaps at the forefront of responsibility, a tutor should always make sure…

An effective tutor can make a student feel more confident and engaged with the learning process. A good tutor needs to have a variety of qualities in order to bring out the best in a student. Tutors need to be able to personalize learning, no two students learn the same and as such it would be incorrect to assume that the same teaching strategy will work for every student. Tutors should also not simply teach content to students, they need to…

To make a student understand things in an easy way. And be there for the students. I can find one students area of interest and as well as weakness and can concentrate on it. A few things are, 1. Make the session more productive and interactive. 2. When teaching something we should not try to make them memorize it, but we should make them understand it. 3. Inside BellambiTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student 52992 reviewed algebra, trigonometry, and inequalities as part of half-yearly test preparation, also covering significant figures and financial maths calculations.

For Year 10, student 55937 worked on coordinate geometry with a focus on finding perimeters of sectors, plus practiced forming and graphing linear equations.

Meanwhile, in Year 4, student 43575 explored picture graphs (interpreting simple data displays) and began to discuss foundational algebra concepts through informal activities.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student repeatedly avoided showing working in maths tasks, insisting that "the answer is enough," which meant calculation errors went unnoticed during revision for algebra inequalities.

In a senior assignment on the Otzi Iceman (History), the same student required step-by-step guidance to begin research and drafting, as one tutor observed, "I had to 'hold his hand' through the writing portion."

For a Year 5 learner, difficulty recalling times tables out of order slowed progress with fraction questions—writing them sequentially was fine, but random recall proved challenging and led to hesitation when new problems appeared.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Bellambi recently noticed Max tackling his Otzi history assignment with far more persistence than before—he used to give up quickly but now powers through challenging research and essay planning without needing reminders.

Another older student showed real progress in maths, mastering Pythagoras' theorem and like terms after struggling to connect the concepts earlier this term; he even asked for tougher questions on angles.

Meanwhile, Arvon (primary) has shifted from hesitating over addition to solving double-digit sums in his head, completing a set of ten mental calculations correctly during one session.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Everything seems to be going well so far, Angelina is finally'getting' long division. She is stubborn in finding ways not to rote learn her times tables, however! Shahzad is very patient with her. We are finding the experience a very positive one.

Jordan seems to be doing a great job with Ruby after 2 lessons. I am happy for him to continue and hope that Ruby continues to improve.

Tommi is learning so much every week he is with ramzy and his grades at school in math class have improved dramatically. We have previously hired other maths tutors, but none other have helped like Ramzy has. Tommi has said that maths is now an enjoyable subject and looks forward to his tutoring when needed. 5 star rating and will be recommending to others.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Corrimal District Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Holy Spirit College.
