To me, one of the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to give the student confidence. When a student gains confidence that they can do it, they will be more willing to put effort and also do better in their examinations. I would say my strength as a tutor is to be able to get into the studnets's level and explain to them in a way…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is to make the subject matter enjoyable for students. 1. I believe my strengths would be being able to empathise with students, having a positive attitude towards learning, teaching and my subject, I have excellent communication skills and I'm patient and tolerant. 2. While I was a peer tutor, I…

A tutor is somebody who is most significantly; approachable. While a student can learn from a thousand different ways , a tutor is meant to expose them to those ways so that they achieve their goals. Keeping the deadlines in check, their is a responsibility to make sure that all of the essential learning is checked off the list to…

Give them confidence- either to have a crack at new questions or topics, or just continue to work and learn independently. Usually this is achieved by helping students find a way to enjoy the subject. I'm a good communicator and very empathetic. I've always been told I'd be an excellent teacher- my habit is to always make sure a tutee has…

I believe the most important things a tutor can do are to explan or simply the difficult concepts in a manner the student understands, and to build their confidence while doing a problem in which they are likely to make mistakes and also teaching them how to be patient if they are unable to solve something and how to go on forward from that…

I strongly believe all students learn differently and have their own unique study methods, therefore it is important for a tutor to adjust to the student's needs and personalise the study session. However, I also consider it useful that tutors help develop new study habits and introduce new ways to learn whilst tutoring in a way that the student…

A tutor's most important role is to listen, observe, and provide students with the necessary tools and strategies to learn effectively. By doing so, tutors can help students overcome academic challenges, develop lifelong learning skills, and foster a cycle of confidence, motivation, and success. Tutors should be able to convey information in a way that not only makes sense, but engages the student. A tutor should be as eager about the subject they are teaching as they are knowledgeable of the topic, and should strive to convey this excitement and passion through their teaching. The ability to help a student not only understand, but love…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to help the student learn in a way that works for them. Usually in a classroom, due to the overwhelming number of students, teachers aren't always able to help students individually. Therefore, sometimes a student that is struggling is only struggling because they learn better with a…

The most important thing a tutor can do is give the student more confidence in themselves and their learning. There is only so much you can teach someone if they give up on themselves, so the most important thing is ensuring that confidence. I also believe that it's important to have good communication so that the student feels that they can ask…

Being consistent, diligent and warm are what I consider to be the most important things a tutor can do for a student. A tutor needs to be consistent in his/her teaching methods as well as his/her approach to a specific topic so that the student can easily understand what is being taught. A tutor needs to be diligent too, finding ways and solutions…

Inside BrendaleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student Tom focused on integration techniques and finding the area under a curve, then applied these skills to real-world problems involving further integration.

For Year 10 Ruby, sessions included practicing ratio questions for an upcoming test and tackling more complex rates problems to build confidence with worded maths scenarios.

Meanwhile, Year 9 Alex revised expanding brackets and solving equations as well as setting up equations for various rates questions in preparation for assessment.

Recent Challenges

In Year 12 Maths, one student frequently second-guessed herself with logarithmic integration and factored polynomial errors—"she could try and approach questions with a more confident mindset," the tutor noted—which slowed progress when deciding which log laws to use.

In Year 11, mistakes in expanding and factorising polynomials persisted, as working steps weren't always shown clearly; this led to repeated sign errors.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner often gave up quickly if no immediate solution appeared in subtraction or worded problems, meaning valuable problem-solving practice was lost.

For another primary student, incomplete homework made it harder to build independence on new time concepts.

Recent Achievements

One Brendale tutor recently noticed a Year 12 student who, after weeks of hesitating with integration questions, now independently chooses the correct method for finding the area under complex polynomial curves—a big step up from needing hints every time.

In Year 10, Samantha had been unsure about which logarithmic laws to apply but now quickly recognises and explains her choices when faced with trickier problems.

Meanwhile, in primary sessions, Hugo used to wait for help before tackling harder subtraction tasks; this week he wrote out his own working and remembered to borrow the ten without reminders.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Strathpine Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like The BUSY School - Strathpine Campus.
