English Tutor Banora Point, NSW
Not just tutor them, but be a friend. By opening up and developing a closer bond to students, the students feel more comfortable and it doesn't become an english tutoring session, but just a study session. I went through the course(s) myself quite recently, so I understand what's expected on the students, and what they need to do to excel and not…

The most relevant things when it comes to tutoring are being able to connect with the student in a way that they feel motivated and find the help they need in order to learn. I believe students should have access to meaningful learning. I get along very well with children and teenagers and always find the way to motivate and encourage them to…

English Tutor Tweed Heads, NSW
Other than helping a student genuinely understand the content in their course, I think that the most important thing an english tutor can do for them is to help them in developing and implementing strategies to allow them to become independently successful. This may mean developing a better organisational process, implementing a system for…

The most important things is for a tutor to help a student to come to a place where they enjoy the experience of learning rather than see it as a chore. I am very good at communicating complex ideas using simple…

Local Reviews

The whole process has been great. We had a tutor within 3 days and the first session within 5. The system is so flexible and communication has been excellent every step. Our tutor has focussed on the specific task we needed to cover and my son has found it incredibly helpful. He is now booking his own sessions.

Inside ChinderahTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Bella worked on English worksheets covering sentence structure, homonyms, and onomatopoeia, as well as maths problems involving time and one-variable equations.

In Year 9, Jeremy focused on Pythagoras' theorem and measurement geometry—calculating area, perimeter, and volume of shapes—in preparation for his semester exam.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Willow practiced simplifying algebraic expressions using index laws and revisited fraction operations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions with step-by-step examples.

Recent Challenges

A Year 12 student arrived to a session unprepared for in-depth exam questions, having only revised basic curriculum—"I tried to prepare for the basics in all the year 12 curriculum that I wasn't prepared for the in depth exam questions." This limited their ability to tackle complex problems.

In Year 8 algebra, another student skipped showing steps, which made it harder to catch sign errors and get feedback.

Meanwhile, a primary student could not complete area calculations because they forgot paper and materials for the lesson; as a result, time was lost sourcing supplies instead of practicing.

Recent Achievements

A Chinderah tutoring session with a Year 10 student saw Jeremy independently tackle trigonometry and algebra questions he once found daunting, even catching his own errors without prompting.

In Year 7, Willow—who used to hesitate over fraction operations—now quickly converts fractions on her own and completes syllabus-level worksheets unaided.

Meanwhile, a younger student who typically avoided reading aloud volunteered to do so this week, pushing past her usual reluctance.

The lesson wrapped up with Jeremy accurately drawing scatterplots and explaining the relationships between data points in detail.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Cassidy has had one session with Scott. Cassidy came home very positive, saying that Scott was great at explaining concepts and that he will benefit from his tutoring support. Cassidy related well with Scott and seemed very impressed by his level of knowledge and by his academic progress at university. In effect, Scott is a great role model for Cassidy. I hope this all continues well.

Thanks for your email, Mitchell is really excited to have Ken as his tutor, he made a great impression when he came along for a chat and that high expectation has continued. He has a natural way with him and engages well with Mitchell, unlocking the mysteries and some tricks to understanding Math. We also like that Ken is a skilled tutor in many subjects so are looking forward to a long term relationship with him as a mentor for Mitchell. Someone that has worked hard to achieve success which is what we all want for our children. Thanks again I feel this match will be a good one.

Yes we are very happy with Jacinta. She is lovely and Emily likes her. She seems to be very suited to Emily, as she has a very practical approach to helping Emily with her Math's, and understood straight away what Emily's basic needs were. We look forward to Jacinta tutoring Emily this year.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Unanderra Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Banora Point Public School.
