Every student is different and every student has different ways of understanding concepts. Some might learn them easily via a practical approach while others focus on the theory first. Understanding the weak points of a student and focusing on the strength of a student is very important for a physics tutor to know. One of my strengths is a strong…

Moulding your methods with patience is very important in teaching. I am very passionate about teaching. Have an ability to perform multiple tasks. Confident in…

One of the best qualities of a physics tutor is to create a personal connection to your student. While tutoring classes in the past, I would encompass fun activities within the lesson in order to build an easy rapport with students in the beginning, making the student feel at ease, and comfortable, putting the student in a position in which he or…

Ensuring they understand in their own way and being able to recognise when the student does not understand. If the tutor can recognise when the student does not understand, instead of moving on and the student now has a gap in their fundamental knowledge, the tutor can attempt to convey the knowledge in a style more suited to the student. I have a…

A tutor needs to be able to understand where the student is academically, what they currently understand and what holes they have in their knowledge. They are not a teacher, but are there to help reinforce and strengthen what their teacher is currently going over. A tutor should be helping the student to understand the content through linking…

I believe that the most important thing a physics tutor can do for his/her students is to individualise the learning process. This means adapting to the individual's learning style, learning their strengths and weaknesses and tailoring the teaching style to cater for each, and keeping track of their progress. Instilling confidence in the student…

I believe to explain a concept that the student can understand is paramount in the role of a physics tutor. For this to be done the student needs to comprehend the simple skills that leads up to the final difficult concept. If a tutor is able to explain this complex concept by explaining the simple skills and breaking down the concept in a simpler…

As a physics tutor, I think its important to deliver a lesson that is easy to comprehend regardless of how academic the students are. I am more to lean to visual than texts. One of the most important things a physics tutor can do for a student is to guide the student in a practical way rather than sticking to the theory. A tutor can bring in enjoyment into students even when they study. Most of the students don't enjoy study time the main reason being they don't understand certain concepts and find it hard. I believe that it is key that you understand how a student is thinking and how the individual's mind perceives things such as their surroundings or just problems in general. This way you are able to connect with them in a more effective manner which will therefore increase the bond of the relationship and also as a physics tutor, pose a greater…

Teaching a student on how to learn on their own in such a way that they will not need a physics tutor in their future academic pursuits. Inside ClarksonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Alex worked on adding and subtracting large numbers and decimals, as well as calculating **perimeter in measurement problems**.

For Year 9, Jasmine tackled **surface area calculations for prisms and cylinders**, applying formulas to different shapes.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Lucas reviewed trigonometry with a focus on **solving angles of elevation and depression using real-world examples**.

Recent Challenges

A Year 4 student often left homework incomplete, particularly the second page of their maths booklet, leading to confusion with worded fraction problems.

In Year 9, one student relied heavily on having an iPad nearby during sessions—"it ends up being a bit distracting most of the time and really shouldn't be in the room if not necessary"—and forgot to bring home their assessment sheet, making it difficult to understand teacher expectations.

For a Year 11 student preparing for OLNA-style questions, reluctance to start questions meant revision time was lost at the outset instead of being spent on practice and feedback.

Recent Achievements

One Clarkson tutor noticed a big change in Ella, a Year 10 student who used to keep her ideas to herself—this week, she shared her opinions unprompted on a film's themes, something she'd avoided during previous assignments.

In Year 8 maths, Kyle has become much quicker and more accurate at solving measurement problems; when tutoring first started, he often hesitated and double-checked every answer.

For a younger student in Year 4, making division questions about money finally clicked—she now confidently works through problems independently, linking them back to real-world dollars and cents and finishing all the set questions without help.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We're very pleased with Rhowdry so far. Madeline is building a great rapport with her and they seem to work well together. I know it will take some time but so far so good.

Thank you so much for sending us Leonardo! He was brilliant! Luke absolutely LOVED HIM! I can't wipe the smile off his face, and this is the text he sent me soon after..

Rohini had really got Alex over the line and has boosted her confidence greatly. Instead of a low D she is now a mid range B and is feeling a lot happier.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Clarkson Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Clarkson Primary School.
