To make students enjoy the classes, and want them to learn more and get interested in the subject. Classes should not be seen as a boring compulsory activities, in constrast, they should be the channel to make students wiser and more independent. I think that one of my strengths is trying to adapt the classes to the student. Not every children has…

The most important things a student can get from a tutor is support and encouragement. There is a genuine need for understanding between students and their tutors. If a tutor is able to understand a students needs and cater to them, then there is no better tutor-student relationship. My strengths as a tutor are definitely my patience and…

Instilling confidence in them - especially when it comes to subjects like Math, students have kind of been programmed to think of it as a difficult subject and to fear it. Breaking those stereotypes, and making sure the correct resources are accessible for them to face the content with self-confidence can make a big difference in their lives in…

I think one of the most important things a tutor can do is create a comfortable and supportive environment where the student feels confident to ask questions and make mistakes. Learning really happens when students feel safe to try, even if they don’t get it right the first time. A tutor should also explain things in a way that makes sense to…

I believe that the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to guide them to understand concepts instead of giving them formulae to memorize or solutions to copy. By helping a student realize their own potential to solve problems by honing their strengths and finding methods that work for them, it gives a student confidence in their…

Building confidence is the most important thing a tutor can possibly do for a student. It's very important for a tutor to listen a student's worry points and problems and guide him accordingly to overcome them without breaking his confidence. It's necessary to be a good mentor and help students just not academically but advice them on any…

A tutor should always understand the level of understanding of a particular subject by a student, so that he/she can start teaching from the basics if necessary. I am people-friendly. I know English, Tamil, Chinese, and German, so I can speak in a way students can understand the topics clearly. Also, I am strong in my fundamentals, so I can teach…

The tutor should have the knowledge of what they are teaching, as that would not cause any hindrance while the child is in the learning phase. The tutor should also be kind and attentive towards the children. I am very comfortable around children, and I tend to make them comfortable too. I also like to play with certain tips and tricks so that…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to build their confidence in being able to attempt completely unfamiliar problems. Mental support Always be active to answer questions (even in off work periods of the day) Make a good plan of what the session will be all about before it starts. Openmind at work ... Try different methods and examples to communicate the concepts. Let the student work the problems on their own and then try to guide them to the answers without…

A tutor should be a good listener in order to understand the problem that a student is facing. Identify the student's strengths , their interests and translate into learning. Give the student the foundational skills to excel on the own once outside of tutoring. A good tutor will be able to get their student to a level where they feel competent to work by themselves, and know both how to solve a problem, and why we approach the problem the way we do. My strengths as a tutor is my relatability, as math didn’t come easy…

I think a tutor should have at least some level of personal connection with the student. A tutor should always motivate students to try their hardest, and also engage them into the subject as much possible. The most important thing a tutor can do is build confidence as well as knowledge. When students believe in themselves, they naturally try harder and keep improving. Inside Cremorne PointTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Xander focused on trigonometric ratios and reviewing concepts from his recent maths exam to reinforce understanding of key topics.

In Year 7, Soraya worked through past paper questions covering algebraic factorisation and quadratic equations, with an emphasis on both the quadratic formula and completing the square.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student practiced rounding numbers as well as using visual aids to understand fractions, building confidence in core numeracy skills.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Maths, Charlie needed to look back at notes often for trigonometric ratios and equations not provided in exams—this slowed her down during problem-solving and risked gaps if resources weren't available.

In a Year 10 session, one student hesitated with algebraic problem solving, "deferring instead to decimals" when unsure, which meant missed opportunities to build confidence with unfamiliar techniques.

A Year 7 student sometimes left homework incomplete or prioritized easier addition problems over those involving carrying; as noted, "she completed long addition questions that did not need carrying." This led to less practice with the challenging skills required for tests.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Cremorne Point noticed Charlie, a high school student, now tackles past exam papers almost entirely on his own—he used to rely on his notes but recently completed a whole paper independently and highlighted key points for revision.

Soraya, also in high school, demonstrated a big shift by not just solving area questions quickly but explaining her reasoning aloud without prompting; previously she hesitated to share her thought process.

In primary, Xander struggled with number sentences last week but this time answered every one correctly after extra practice, showing real improvement in accuracy and self-correction.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Stanton Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Loreto Kirribilli.
