To me, the most important thing for a student to gain from tutoring is self belief and confidence in their work. As when they feel more confident they will take tasks head on which will help improve their technical skills in the subject as well. I am very patience person who confidently believes that anyone can accomplish whatever they put their…

The most important thing to do as a biology tutor for the student is provide an encouraging environment with the right tools to enable the student to progress in the subject. It is important to build a trusting relationship with the student by being reliable, kind, and positive. My strengths as a tutor are my determination, my flexibility, and my…

Helping them to develop their own learning style, or styles, to perform in a variety of circumstances is one of the most critical things a biology tutor can impart on a student. Examinations and content will never be delivered in the exact same way, so providing students with the means to navigate the ambiguities of examination and focus purely on…

A tutor should provide a student a "light-bulb" moment, where they suddenly understand a concept, gain an idea or know how to answer a question. Light-bulb moments allow students to gain confidence in the subject, and thus achieve the goal of a higher mark. I believe it is also important for tutors to provide tips for dealing with stress,…

Tutors should be willing to listen and work well with students to achieve their personal goals. Tutors must foster or inspire a strong work ethic within students, motivating them to strive to reach their personal best. Aside from increasing a student's comprehension of particular subjects, tutors should highlight the importance of speaking up and…

The ability to answer their questions and provide support wherever possible to resolve the hardest of questions. I'd say the most important thing is to teach the student. It's also important to motivate the student into having a great work ethic so they continue to learn outside designated class time. I am very friendly and approachable, I like to make students feel like they can ask me any questions they want. I'm also quite flexible and am willing to bend…

One of the most important things is to care. A tutor should genuinely care about the student's development and do their very best to help the student in every possible way. The most important things a biology tutor can do for a student is to establish their confidence, give them the attention, teach the most efficient strategies to succeed in the exam with the least lessons. Students can't succeed in their exam is because there are so-called 'good students' in their class, for multiple reasons, their teachers don't…

It's important for a biology tutor to help a student get the correct answer, but more importantly it is critical that the student understands the concept behind which the answer was based. A tutor should be a supportive platform that can allow for the student to grow from and learn to work independantly and learn new skills and techniques. They should be friendly and understanding too. Inside Duffys ForestTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Viktoria worked on simplifying fractions, including both proper and improper types, as well as geometry skills with perimeter and area using shared whiteboard activities.

Year 9 Lachlan revised factorising quadratic equations and grouped like terms while also using Desmos to visualise algebraic graphs for better understanding.

For Year 11, Brandon practiced combinatorics and permutations in probability, followed by a review of recent test questions to clarify misunderstandings.

Recent Challenges

In Year 12 calculus, messy homework setting out and not looking back at notes led to repeated confusion with chain and product rules. "He needs to look back at his notes when doing homework," a tutor observed—time was lost searching for methods rather than practicing application.

In Year 10 probability, unclear working made it difficult to spot where conditional reasoning went astray.

For a Year 5 student tackling perimeter and fractions, skipping steps or relying on copying formats resulted in missed details; rushed columns meant simple errors crept into otherwise solid logic. Confidence dropped after setbacks, slowing progress even more.

Recent Achievements

One Duffys Forest tutor noticed a Year 11 student who previously struggled with fractions now accurately solved them in test questions—an area that had been a stumbling block before.

In a recent high school session, Brandon challenged himself by tackling advanced GCSE-level surds problems without hesitation and began using a highlighter independently to break down worded maths questions, something he hadn't tried until recently.

Meanwhile, Viktoria in primary school has started finishing her daily multiplication sheets much faster than before and now consistently attempts every question herself before seeking help.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Charlie's tutor, Alex, was remarkable with Charlie and I cannot speak highly enough of him. He is doing a lot better in numeracy.

EzyMath tutoring is the ideal way to enter into the highly competitive field of personal tuition. Through their Continuing Education Program and extensive support I was able to greatly expand my capacity to educate students. I would highly recommend Ezymath to both new and more experienced tutors as a way of acquiring new clients, and the professional nature of the company ensures a cohesive match for all parties involved.

I've been working with Ezy Math Tutoring for the best part of 3 years and I can truly say it has been an honour to work with such a supportive and caring group of people. My students and their families have welcomed me with open arms and made me feel like I was making a difference. Ezy Math always made working with them a breeze, ensuring that my needs and the needs of my students were accommodated for. I have recommended Ezy Math to fellow tutors in the past and shall continue to do so in the future. I would like to thank Ezy Math for all their support over the years and I look forward to many more successful tutoring relationships.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Terrey Hills Community Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Sydney Japanese International School.
