I believe a tutor's duty is not to necessarily improve the intellectual capability of their client, but rather, guide them in a way that allows them to harness their own learning potential through customised, carefully tailored programs specific to the individual. Secondly, tutors need to be patient with students and explain every questions students can ask for. Lastly, tutors…

Inside Edens LandingTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Lucas worked on calculating mean, median, mode, and range in statistics, as well as placing values in a histogram using assignment-based examples.

For Year 10, Lachlan focused on factorising equations and practiced applying index laws and powers to various algebraic problems.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Zara reviewed key concepts around algebraic expressions and completed targeted extra questions from her recent quiz to strengthen weaker areas.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student, when tackling rounding and decimals, frequently relied on checking earlier examples before attempting new questions—he kept looking at the previous examples we did together before attempting new questions—which slowed progress in independent work.

For a senior student working on index laws, missed homework assignments meant no practice was done before sessions; this left foundational gaps that persisted into algebraic manipulation tasks.

In Year 3, a learner avoided starting maths assignments altogether and arrived without any attempt made; the result was falling behind while others advanced.

A Year 11 student did not complete Task 3 or ask clarifying questions about "Measures of Spread," leaving assessment preparation incomplete as deadlines approached.

Recent Achievements

One Edens Landing tutor noted a big shift with a Year 10 student who, after struggling to show working out, now talks through his problem-solving steps aloud and explains shortcuts he finds when multiplying fractions—something he never did before.

Another high schooler made rapid progress in statistics: she used to confuse mean and median, but by the end of the session could clearly explain each one back to her tutor and apply them to mixed data sets.

Meanwhile, two Year 4 students who were once hesitant now insist on attempting their maths sums solo first before asking for feedback.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We very happy with tutor Sean. He is a very good tutor. Melissa is happy Sean is her tutor.

I am very impressed with Nikki and the way in which your company operates. Emily had a session with Nikki on Monday in preparation for her algebra topic test on Tuesday and she received 72%!! She would normally get in the 40s for this type of test maybe less for algebra. We are reaping the rewards of Nikki's tutoring already. Very pleased indeed and Nikki is also a great role model for Emily in the way she presents herself and her attitude to life in general. Thank you for your exceptional service.

Peilin is fantastic! They get along extremely well and Peilin is very encouraging.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Beenleigh Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Edens Landing State School.
