I think it’s the empathy. I believe that no one could know everything at the beginning, even myself. So an empathetic tutor, who knows what their students are experiencing and struggling with, definitely is more inspiring and more able to help students overcome the difficulties. I can work with children with enough patience. My delivery methods…

Being able to tailor the teaching approach according to the student's needs as required. Not every student learns in the in a linear manner or same way as others, and that might make it difficult to process and learn content when in a big classroom. Well, one is to build the student's confidence! I want them to be able to think independently and instil in their minds to avoid the use of AI tools like ChatGPT. I want to create a comfortable space where they can make mistakes and learn from them! A good tutor does not just give the answers, and I'd guide them to find the answers themselves. 1:1…

I think the most important would definitely be creating a connection with the students so that they feel comfortable around the tutor. 1)As a tutor it is very important to understand student's personal needs and cater studies according to that. Get to know them, take few counselling sessions as that would help in getting to know students in a broader way. 2)Be Creative-It is very important for a tutor to be creative. Explaining the same topic in different ways makes a lot of…

Inside FitzroyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Gus focused on measurement skills including unit conversions, perimeter, and an introduction to surface area, as well as exploring the angle sum in triangles.

In Year 9, Maryam worked on solving simultaneous equations using substitution and elimination, then applied these methods to practical problems.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Ali reviewed operations with fractions—adding, subtracting, multiplying with different denominators—and extended this knowledge to simplifying algebraic fractional expressions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 6 student in Fitzroy showed difficulty setting out work neatly and consistently dating pages, making it harder to track progress—especially when tackling worded measurement problems.

As one tutor observed, "she struggles to walk through questions speaking out loud," which made it tough to clarify her thinking on fraction conversions and unit changes.

In Year 10 English, a student forgot to submit an essay by the deadline, delaying feedback and causing extra stress before class.

A senior maths student arrived unprepared for sessions without essential materials like a pen or laptop; this slowed the start and limited practice time.

Recent Achievements

One Fitzroy tutor noticed a Year 11 student, Celeste, who used to hesitate with trigonometry word problems now confidently solves bearings and graphing tasks on her own—she even tackles complex questions without prompting.

In another session, Maryam (Year 10) moved from confusion about box plots to clearly explaining five-figure summaries and solving simultaneous equations using both substitution and elimination methods.

Meanwhile, in Year 6 maths, Ella showed a shift from struggling with measurement topics to independently working through area and volume questions, finishing her test section on these without needing hints.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Laura has definitely gotten Diana to a great start. She eagerly anticipates her tutoring  and is seeming to take more  interest in Maths especially in the strands that she did not feel very confident about. Diana has told me that Laura's  explanations are easily understood and is simplified which makes it easy to remember. She also explains various strategies that can be used for problem solving which is good for time management when attempting to solve problems in class. Diana is able to use the notes taken during tutoring in class which is assisting with her understanding of the relevant strand or concept.

Things are going really well.  Emily is a lovely young woman who has engaged well with my daughter.  Tia feels comfortable with her and is learning new skills.  It is great. Thanks once again for such wonderful service and professionalism.  It is such a change to receive follow up and genuine interest in the service provided .  Your company is to be commended!!

We asked for assistance on a short term basis to help with some exam preparation.  Our tutor was quickly able to assess our daughter's capability and provide practical assistance with problem solving and techniques. Most importantly the tutor instilled real confidence in our daughter's ability, offering encouragement, support and reinforcement all the way.  We would not hesitate to contact Ezy Math for our future needs.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Fitzroy Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Sacred Heart School.
