I believe that this creates a life long passion to learn which is an incredibly vital skill in todays society. I think my strengths as a tutor are in connecting with students. Empathy: Understand how the student is feeling or understood a particular concept based on their behavioural and body language cues. This is because most students do not give explicit feedback. Understanding the student's learning pace: Every student is unique and have their own pace of learning. As a tutor you need to adapt to that. I am…

My philosophy as a tutor is productivity over hard work. Tutors shouldn't just provide step answers for students to memorise, take their assessments and then forget it afterwards but, instead, should provide guidance and advice for students to understand the necessary steps and concepts leading to that solution. I understand that everyone learns…

A tutor can offer student great flexibility in teaching materials and methods that may not be available in a classroom setting. Going through the student's difficulties one by one, with personal attention, makes a significant difference to a learning environment. A tutor should focus on empowering the student, rather than simply teaching the content to them, so that when the tutor is not present, the student is still able to motivate themselves and have confidence in their ability without having someone to rely on. Inside FlemingtonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Alice worked on calculating mean, median, mode, and range in statistics as well as identifying angles with symmetry using visual examples.

In Year 9, Bita practised solving linear equations and worked through a worksheet on mean, median and mode provided by her teacher.

For Year 10, Laura focused on revising algebra and graphing techniques from the Year 11 curriculum to strengthen her foundation for upcoming studies.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student preparing for a statistics test hesitated to share which probability topics felt hardest, making it difficult to target weak spots; her notebook was also missing dates, so tracking progress became confusing.

In Year 9 algebra, as one tutor put it, "he skipped showing steps in simplification, which hid sign errors"—extra time was then spent hunting mistakes instead of building confidence.

A Year 7 student left homework incomplete before lessons and struggled with organizing exercise books and teacher feedback requests.

During Year 12 revision, reluctance to attempt unfamiliar graph questions led to gaps ahead of the upcoming test.

Recent Achievements

One Flemington tutor noticed a big change in a Year 11 student who used to freeze up on tough algebra questions—now, after working through some challenging Further Maths problems, he confidently explained his reasoning and tackled even the trickiest ones without hesitation.

In another session, a Year 9 student who'd struggled to distinguish between explanatory and response variables was able to clearly verbalise his thought process and correctly identify each one during practice.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who once guessed at answers now talks through her multiplication steps out loud and checks her work before moving on.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Flemington Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kensington Community High School.
