Biology Tutor Buttaba, NSW
I think fostering curiosity and confidence are the most important things a biology tutor can do for a student. Technical knowledge is obviously extremely important, however, I think building solid study foundations is something a student will carry with them for the rest of their lives. As a current university student, I understand the frustration…

Biology Tutor Bonnells Bay, NSW
In order for the relationship between and student and tutor to bloom, the tutor needs to be a good listener, patient, honest, flexible, confident and willing to collaborate. I believe I am capable of all these items, and more. I believe I am patient, and have a creative way of teaching. I am enthusiastic in all aspects of life, and tutoring is no…

Biology Tutor
I believe that as a biology tutor, my most crucial roles involve instilling self-confidence in my students, providing reliability, simplifying complex concepts, and fostering a genuine passion for the subjects they study. In my four years as a teacher in Italy, I've honed my tutoring skills with a strong emphasis on empathy for young minds,…

Inside GwandalanTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Claudia revised two- and three-digit addition using the split strategy and was introduced to subtraction involving tens, such as 165 minus 60.

Year 7 student Nina worked on multiplying and adding fractions, as well as finding the lowest common multiple for pairs of numbers, often using visual aids like fraction diagrams.

In Year 8, Leonardo tackled equations and basic factorisation in algebra, building confidence through step-by-step practice with real examples.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student often left homework incomplete, especially on times tables and addition, meaning lesson time was spent revisiting basics instead of progressing to more complex maths.

As one tutor noted, "The failure to complete the set homework just sets her progress back by delaying time."

Meanwhile, a Year 11 student displayed strong verbal creativity but struggled to organize ideas in writing—his workbook remained messy and hard to follow.

In both cases, gaps in practice outside sessions or lack of attention to written structure led to repeated confusion and slower confidence growth when faced with new material.

Recent Achievements

One Gwandalan tutoring session saw a Year 9 student, Aanika, tackle linear equations that she'd previously found confusing; after some practice applying formulas, she started working through the problems with noticeably more confidence and less hesitation.

Meanwhile, a Year 8 student, Jasmine, who was unsure about calculating areas of composite shapes last term, now independently breaks down each shape and solves for the total area without prompting.

At primary level, Jordan in Year 4 used to rely on his fingers for simple sums but now consistently adds and subtracts mentally—he even completed all assigned Mathletics tasks on his own this week.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Thank you very much to Jason, he was a great tutor and an incredibly nice person, we appreciate his efforts.

Dana was fantastic, so good that I passed my exam and got 98 percent in maths. Thank you.

I would be more than happy to be part of Ezy Math Tutoring again to continue motivating, encouraging and making more students feel that mathematics are easy and fun. I will never forget the day - the day before I left Sydney - when I went to one of my students' house to say good bye. That day, Mattheu let me know that he had been upgraded in his maths class, from 4th to 3rd level. When we started our tutoring sessions, he was on the 6th level of his maths course, and during the first two months, every day I asked him how everything at school had been that day, he replied "it was boring". Over that year that we were having our maths classes, he was being upgraded from 6th, to 5th, then 4th and finally 3rd that day when I went to his place to say good bye. Before I left his place, he said to me "Andres, I want to be a doctor, I want to study a PhD, like you... thank you". That very moment, when you are able to help others, contribute to society, etc, is simply priceless. Being a tutor was a great experience and I am still missing my students.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Swansea Library, kariyawangba—or at your child's school (with permission), like Gwandalan Public School.
