The most important thing that I can do is to allow the student to learn with fun and without any stress. This can be done with a broad explanation on topics and giving examples from our day to day activities. Consequently, a student will able to catch up all the difficult theories easily. I have a good understanding about the math related subjects…

To be able to truly listen to a student about what exactly they are struggling/worried about, and help them gain confidence in their own abilities. For students that are already doing quite well academically, the best thing a tutor could do is enhance their curiosity for knowledge and help them extend their knowledge. Most of all, making learning…

I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to optimise their environment for efficient and non-distracting lessons. This involves first and foremost making changes to their physical environment, changing attitudes towards school-work and education, as well as creating a more easy-going, lighthearted, passionate yet…

Being patient and flexible. Each child has a different learning style and speed. Therefore tutors need to be able to understand that and try new methods to teach if their current one is not very effective. My strengths as a tutor include being fun. I can teach students in a way that engages them, but I also know when I need to be firm. I am very…

For me a tutor isn’t there to show student how to do the question but to guide them through it, make remarks on comment mistakes. Moreover an imporant aspect for a tutor is need to show student how mathematics impact our everyday life. When I was in high school, my friend always ask me questions on maths and physics. Therefore I know most the…

To teach them in a way that they are equipped with the knowledge at a good pace for them, while also remaining up to date or a head of schedule. This allows them to have things mastered before their classes, allowing them to spend that time in the most effective way they see fit. My strengths as a tutor are the ability to lead a student to an…

I am confident, patient and kind. I enjoy working with kids and I like learning and also knowing I've helped someone else learn something new. I feel I can pass on my motivation to students, as well as the importance of having a positive mindset- especially as you approach senior years in high school. I'm encouraging and I feel that I have the…

Local Reviews

I am extremely pleased with EzyMath Tutoring. My daughter needed a few tutorials to brush up on her maths going into Year 7. Her tutor, Sam Wise, is an excellent tutor. He is very easy going and patient. Sam taught Jemma with care and patience and made everything easy for her to understand. I would recommend EzyMaths to any parent whose child needs any type of maths tutoring, whether it be basic or advanced. Thankyou EzyMath and Sam!

Inside HallamTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Zoe worked through the Pythagoras theorem, applying it to solve right-angled triangle problems, and practised calculating areas and volumes of cylinders and cones.

For Year 10, Jay revised algebra skills by expanding and simplifying equations before tackling more complex quadratic expressions with fractions and multiple variables.

In VCE Chemistry, Priya solved galvanic cell questions using half-cell diagrams and calculations, then completed volumetric analysis exercises involving titration steps and related maths.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student often handed in homework incomplete, such as submitting only an introduction and one body paragraph for a full essay task; as noted, "had a week to complete one essay, only wrote introduction and one body paragraph."

In Year 11 English, another student did not edit thoroughly—errors that could have been fixed on review remained in the final submission.

For a Year 9 analysis task, paragraphs lacked evidence and depth because annotation during reading was unclear, making it difficult to structure strong responses later.

These process gaps led to last-minute scrambles and underdeveloped written work.

Recent Achievements

One Hallam tutor noticed a Year 11 student who'd struggled with independent problem-solving now working through equations entirely on his own by the end of their session.

In English, a Year 9 student who previously missed deadlines finished her creative writing homework early and made fewer grammar mistakes than before.

A younger primary student, new to tackling spelling tests, showed clear progress—scoring higher this week and correctly identifying tricky words that had caused trouble in earlier lessons.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Bunjil Place Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Hallam Secondary College.
