A tutor , according to me should be available to the student at all times. They have to respond to the student's enquiries without much lag. Additionally, teachers have to be truly dedicated especially in terms of correction of homework and assignments. I have had students giving me feedback like I am really patient in clarifying the concepts.…

The most important aspect about tutoring is to be able to assess the ability of the students and tune the tutoring method accordingly. While some students can understand pretty quickly, there are students who require repeated teaching. The ultimate objective is to meet the expectations of students and parents. 1. I think the most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is to listen. It is important for a tutor to build a relationship with the students so that tutoring sessions don't become a chore, and the student feels comfortable seeking help with things in these sessions. Thus, I think that listening to and responding to the needs of the…

Inside KambahTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Christian worked on finding the equation of a parabola through three points using simultaneous and quadratic equations, as well as practising long division.

Year 9 Sophia focused on functions, including term substitution and function notation, along with revision of graphing parabolas and finding their roots by factorising or applying the quadratic formula.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 student tackled fractions and percentages, converting between them and solving word problems that required dividing whole numbers into parts.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student repeatedly left maths notes at school, which made it difficult to refer back to key worked examples—"no book again today" meant the original classwork couldn't be checked or built on in tutoring.

In Year 9 algebra, cramped and messy working led to missed steps in multi-part problems; as one tutor noted, "needs to leave more space to solve problems."

Meanwhile, a primary student struggled with times tables but also lost focus when tired during sessions.

Without materials on hand or clear written processes, students spent time retracing old ground rather than progressing confidently.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Kambah noticed a big shift with a Year 9 student who used to get stuck on multi-step algebra problems—now, he talks through his reasoning out loud and lays out his working clearly, which helps him spot mistakes himself.

In Year 11, one student who struggled to link graphs with quadratic equations can now confidently relate each part of the graph to the quadratic formula, showing real independence during revision.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student has started solving percentage word problems using new strategies and even explains her steps as she goes.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We are very happy with Sean, the kids have responded very well to him and even look forward to the sessions!

Abed is passionate about maths, and is very keen to teach his student, and ensure they are succeeding. He is an asset to Ezymaths.

Things are going really well. Kai enjoys Noah's tutoring. On his last math's assessment he received 80% in comparison to the one before which was 55%. I met with his math's school teacher and she has provided upcoming topics for Noah to discuss with Kai as well as 2 practice tests. Her feedback was positive too and constructive. If we stay on this path, I'm confident that it will prepare him well for the upcoming HSC.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Tuggeranong Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Taylor Primary School.
