Tutor Banora Point, NSW
Not just tutor them, but be a friend. By opening up and developing a closer bond to students, the students feel more comfortable and it doesn't become a tutoring session, but just a study session. I went through the course(s) myself quite recently, so I understand what's expected on the students, and what they need to do to excel and not only get…

Find out each students style of learning and discuss new concepts through that lens. I demonstrate strong patience and a calming demeanour which allows students to access their full learning and cognitive capacity. A calming and patient environment allows students to thrive as it supports them from where they are at and can then be supported to…

The most important thing about tutoring is not to be teacher. There is no point of me repeating what the teacher taught, but instead spend time assessing what the student, does not understand about the course which is being learnt. Together with student come to understand of why perhaps this is a difficult thing to grasp and work together to…

Be able to explain in a way that the student can understand and be able to take that knowledge outside and be able to do problems by themself with confidance in themselves. I am young and would be able to understand students on a personal level and able to explain concepts and material in a way they would be able to understand, my weaknesses would…

I can't speak more highly of Adhwaith (Adi). He was friendly, reliable, conscientious & effective. I will definitely be seeking to have him return after the coming school holidays to help my daughter with her Math.

Inside Kings ForestTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Jeremy focused on Pythagoras' theorem and consolidating measurement and geometry skills for his upcoming semester exam, also practising with frequency tables and histograms.

For Year 7, Willow worked through operations with fractions—including simplifying, converting between mixed numbers and improper fractions, and tackling worded problems—plus some algebra basics using tailored worksheets.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Bella completed maths questions around elapsed time from the EzyMath textbook and practised English comprehension skills through written responses.

Recent Challenges

A Year 12 student approached exam preparation by focusing on the basics across the curriculum, but as a tutor observed, "I wasn't prepared for the in-depth exam questions," leading to uncertainty when tackling advanced problems.

In Year 10 algebra sessions, skipping steps was evident—"he skipped showing steps in algebra, which hid sign errors"—making it hard to pinpoint where mistakes crept in.

For a Year 6 maths task, not bringing paper meant calculations couldn't be completed during the lesson.

Meanwhile, a Year 8 English student rarely shared drafts for feedback despite encouragement; this left her written arguments less refined than they could have been.

Recent Achievements

One Kings Forest tutor noticed that Jeremy, a high school student, has gone from hesitating with algebra and trigonometry to independently tackling complex problems and reliably checking his own work for errors—something he rarely attempted before.

Willow, also in high school, was initially unsure when working with fractions but now confidently converts and compares them without needing reminders, showing real growth in her mathematical independence.

In a recent session with a Year 6 student, Bella started identifying mistakes in her writing on her own rather than waiting for prompts and even requested extra homework to keep practicing—a big shift from her earlier reluctance.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Kingscliff Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kingscliff High School.
