The most important thing a physics tutor can do is recognise their students ability level and mould their teaching to that level. This insures that the kids do not feel out of depth, but also they are learning new things every session. I am a very social and friendly person making it easy for me to build strong rapport with the students, and as a…

The most important thing for a physics tutor to do is to help the student enjoy learning because this is the primary way to motivate a student to work harder. When a student is actively interested in what they are learning they will absorb more information and will naturally progress faster than a student who is not interested. I think the teacher…

To me, the most important thing a physics tutor can do is to encourage the student and to ensure they are working at their fullest potential. My key strengths include my lateral thinking, my ability to plan ahead and my immaculate work ethic. These qualities will greatly assist my tutoring, my ability to think will allow me to understand my pupils…

Tutors must be flexible in their assistance to students through recognising individual learning preferences. Hence, they must cater to one's level of academic proficiency, their learning weaknesses and holes in education to provide a tangible improvement in grades. I have recent experience undertaking high school Extension 1 and 2 Mathematics,…

To help student to discover their strengths and weaknesses, help them to persevere and achieve their goal. I think it is important for the tutor to influence the student to be more enthusiastic towards his studies. It is easier to learn stuff with focus and the right attitude. The tutor has to try and make sessions interesting. Also, at the end of the day, the student must not be dependent on the tutor. As a physics tutor, you know you have succeeded…

I believe a physics tutor is not only a teacher but also a mentor. They are someone for the student to look up to, but also there to help the student develop their understanding through friendship and camaraderie. As they are separate from both school and home settings, they can offer an external and unique perspective on both academic and…

In the context of Science and Mathematics, the key aspect is HOW to think. Science requires imagination, innovation as well as an excellent recall and grasp of modern scientific understanding. Mathematics, being a tool - requires the students to be well-equipped with the basic mathematical tools. To directly answer this question; a physics tutor…

Explain concepts well and set a good foundation for their learning. Additionally, the most important thing a physics tutor should do is encourage and teach them how to learn by themselves. Instead of only teaching the necessary information, they should try to teach students how to have fun while learning in order for them to be self-motivated, a…

Ultimately, I think a good tutor teaches the student skills that they can utilize in their general learning and subject specific study. A tutor should be in a position to be a mentor to the student and share their experience in relation to studying their subject. This can help the student overcome what can initially be a daunting task as it is a…

The most important thing by far, especially that I have found over the years, is to have a presence that shows genuine concern for the student's understanding. Facilitate the comprehension of the concepts studied, a tutor is not there to do the homework by himself but rather to show a better way to do it and to provide help in understanding the concepts needed to carry out a homework or while studying for an exam. Very closely tied to this is the building of the student, edifying the student if you…

Physics Tutor Gladesville, NSW
A tutor is more than a teacher. A teachers job is to give a student a base level of understanding whereas a tutor can build on that and go further. This allows students to revisit sections that the teacher brushed over or to build on sections they seemingly understand to ensure they can answer a greater range of question types. Along with the…

I believe that the tutor shouldn't be the one always in control and leading the session. Especially in early sessions, I believe the tutor should encourage the student to ask many questions of them, to grasp what they know and how they interpret different topics. Tutoring almost becomes useless if the tutor is the one constantly talking because…

Inside LonguevilleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Ava worked through fraction to decimal conversions and solved real-world area problems using diagrams.

In Year 9, Ethan focused on linear algebra by forming equations from graphs and also explored bivariate data relationships.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Olivia revised trigonometric identities and applied them to surface area calculations, reinforcing skills with past HSC questions for added exam readiness.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8, a student's work in algebra and fractions was often left incomplete or unclear; as noted, "needs to focus on his working out and not rushing," which led to confusion during revision.

A Year 11 student preparing for trial exams frequently skipped writing out full solutions when tackling past papers—this made it difficult to pinpoint where calculation errors occurred under time pressure.

In Year 6, one student's written layout in area and perimeter tasks was messy, making it hard for both tutor and student to follow progress step by step. Without these process improvements, mistakes remained hidden until test day.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Longueville recently noticed a Year 8 student who used to guess through maths problems now pausing to identify which rule fits each question, and starting to work independently.

In a high school session, a Year 10 student—who previously mixed up the steps—has begun accurately translating worded questions into equations and is showing more confidence applying trigonometry fundamentals without prompting.

Meanwhile, a senior physics student moved from general uncertainty to clearly explaining concepts aloud like velocity and acceleration graphs before attempting problems on their own.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Ethan is finding the tutoring to be very helpful st this time. Tiffany is very patient and organised and I can see that both children will get great benefit from the sessions

Clare is comfortable with Daniel already and has had at least a boost in confidence with having him "on her team".

Joshua is happy with the tutoring he is receiving from Nicholas and is confident that it will help him with his exams.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Lane Cove Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Marist Sisters' College Woolwich.
