Tutoring is very different to a typical classroom setting. Each session is unique and solely focused on the one student. This one-to-one learning experience is something many students wouldn’t normally get in a classroom. Naturally, they’ll be able to ask as many questions as they want. As a result, I’ll feel I’m making a real difference…

Having strong adaptability skills is vital for students. Every student is unique, hence the teaching style must be adjustable and smooth. What works for one student may not work for another, so being able to adapt your approach is essential. Also, prioritising mental health over grades is very important as students can feel assured that they have…

Adapt all aspects of the tutoring for the student. Many students struggle in different areas making it challenging to understand different styles of teaching. As a chemistry tutor you need to ensure that not just the content but way you decided your lessons allow the student to thrive. As a tutor I possess clear communication to ensure that…

I think a chemistry tutor must know how a student learns and understands the subject and give them time to understand and test the information they learn. When I was a student, I found that I learnt best when I would test what I thought I knew with difficult questions that required a new approach. While my academic performance is great, with a 96…

A tutor can teach according to the need of a student which is not possible in a class. Even a child can tell his or her weakness frankly which they can't express in the class I start from the basic. I teach according to the need of a child. I can teach the same concept number of times until the child understands. I can teach all the types of…

A tutor can significantly influence the students in their future career. He/She must be able to develop a love for the subject in the students which I consider is very important. A good tutor has to be an excellent facilitator rather than a spoon feeder in the subject. This makes the students self-capable to achieve greater things in their life.…

I believe a chemistry tutor is there to guide and support a student to their best of their ability so that they may achieve the goals that they wish to reach. In doing so, a tutor should be patient and adaptive in their teaching approach, to allow students to push their own limits and unlock their full academic potential. I consider myself a very…

I believe that the most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to create and maintain a safe and nurturing environment where the student is free to make and learn from their mistakes and are not afraid to ask for assistance when he/she needs additional help with the concept being taught. Therefore, this will be the environment…

Being active when students are in need the most, answering questions as students ask them. It is important to ensure the student feels completely fine to express themselves and ask tutors any questions they may have, during and after the lesson. A tutor should be attentive and ensure the student has no questions before progressing further. I feel…

The most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is make sure that the student understands the concepts thoroughly. Not just a few questions or math problems, but the concept is the most important to get through. As a tutor it's a crucial job to make a base for the student, as this is the foundation for the student which needs to be…

In my view, the most important things a chemistry tutor can do is to build a positive relationship with a student which is the key to become an effective teacher. This is important because it is impossible to engage a student into learning without building a positive rapport with them. The other important thing is to always encourage them to keep…

Inside NorthmeadTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Lily focused on simplifying fractions and explored equivalent fractions using visual models.

For Year 9, Ethan practised solving quadratic equations by both factorising and completing the square, with extra attention to finding turning points on graphs.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Sarah worked through trigonometric functions—drawing their graphs and analysing amplitude and phase shifts—alongside applying radians and unit circle concepts to real-world contexts.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student relied on Desmos for graphing but hesitated to input values or interpret function outputs independently; "more experience with Desmos" was suggested, as he often skipped visual aids and lost confidence when tackling abstract equations.

In a Year 6 maths session, messy working out—especially in multi-digit subtraction—made it hard to spot copying errors or double-check answers, as noted: "she finished her quiz very fast but didn't double check her answers properly and ended up with multiple wrong answers."

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student forgot to complete both sides of assigned homework pages and sometimes arrived without essential materials, leading to incomplete practice and less productive lessons.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Northmead noticed that a Year 11 student who previously hesitated to tackle indices problems is now solving complex questions independently and even tries new strategies without prompting.

Meanwhile, a Year 8 student has started redoing homework questions she got wrong the first time—something she avoided before—and now checks her answers carefully for mistakes.

In a recent primary session, one student used out-loud thinking to break down tricky addition problems, openly catching and correcting errors on her own, which marks a big shift from staying quiet when unsure.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Najib is making progress with Daniel and he feels more confident about tackling maths problems. I am sure Daniel will continue to improve under Najib's careful direction.

Before EzyMath, we had tried two different maths tutors for our son Mathew, they have been ok but not great.  I approached EzyMath because Mat wasn't really connecting with the tutors that we had sourced independently.  EzyMath put us in touch with Luke, a Uni student that lived close by. Luke was closer to Mat's age and related to him much better than just another adult telling him what to do.  Luke was flexible and would come on different days if Mat had a test that he needed to prepare for. The other thing that I love about EzyMath is that they do the character vetting for you, it's not just some random out of the paper that says they know how to teach Math.  We are thrilled with Mathew's new found confidence with this subject and would recommend EzyMath to anyone who needs a bit of extra help engaging with a subject and becoming more confident.  Happy kid is a happy parent!  Thank you EzyMath.

Mia is loving her tutor, she even said she wishes he could be her teacher because of how well he is explaining everything to her. Thank you!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Wentworthville Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Northmead Creative and Performing Arts High School.
