They must be able to relate to the student's situation and current understanding of topics/content. This is the only way tutors can identify what student's need to work and create methods for them to see real improvement. I am attentive and understanding of each student's personal situation and needs, thereby helping me teach them at the correct…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to encourage them to ask lots of questions, and be a mentor on top of being a tutor. I'm meticulous in my teaching approach, being an advocate for deeper understanding of topics. I always explain concepts step by step (derivations and proofs where necessary), and make sure that students…

I think the most important thing a tutor can offer to a younger student is their experience, similar to that of a mentor. Beyond course content, tutors can draw from their study, career and life experiences to help the student navigate their path. I am proud of my ability to teach and explain concepts to others effectively and thoroughly, which I…

Firstly, I believe that an Academic Tutor is an important job position which requires an individual to holistically support students to achieve their personal and academic goals. In addition, I believe that tutoring should take a personalised approach to teach students specific academic skills which will help them achieve their own developmental…

Relatability is so important. We see a huge disconnect between teachers/tutors and students. I believe that an equal playing field with mutual respect creates a unique learning environment and nurtures encouragement. The student can see how the teacher got to where they are, and can realise that they, too, can learn these concepts just as those…

I try my best to create a safe, supportive environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. Confidence is key to overcoming challenges and taking ownership of learning, and it requires patience and understanding from the tutor. First and foremost, helping them score well for the examinations they are going to sit for. I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to make him confident in the subject he is struggling with. To understand and sympathize with his problem, and to effectively guide him to success, is one of the most valuable roles of a tutor. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is highlight their strengths as a learner. Building the trust between the tutor and the student is what I believe it is most important. Inside Queens ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Liam focused on fraction arithmetic and reading comprehension, using short texts to practice extracting key information.

For Year 8, Chloe worked through linear equations involving substitution as well as area and volume calculations for basic geometric shapes.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Noah revised quadratic equations—covering both factorisation methods and decomposing linear terms—to build confidence with more complex algebraic manipulation.

Recent Challenges

In recent Year 9–11 maths sessions, Aaron's working was frequently disorganised and incomplete, with steps missing or muddled—"working needs work, messy and without proper order nor structure."

During algebra tasks, he often copied algorithms without understanding the logic behind each step, which led to persistent calculation errors and confusion when context changed.

In senior-level geometry and trigonometry, over-reliance on memory instead of methodical reasoning caused mistakes; for example, Aaron sometimes guessed at answers or "forgot everything ratio" if a question mixed topics.

When tired or frustrated, he would abandon questions prematurely rather than attempt a systematic approach.

Recent Achievements

One Queens Park tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 10 student's approach to tricky algebra: after weeks of rushing through calculations and making errors, he's now writing out each step and catching mistakes himself—something he avoided before.

In Year 11, another student who used to quietly guess at answers in probability lessons has started asking clarifying questions whenever she gets stuck, which is new for her and shows real initiative.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner who once hesitated during reading time now volunteers to read aloud and explains how she draws conclusions from the text.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We are very happy with the tutoring services we are receiving through your company and my daughters tutor, Alfred. Alfred has been very flexible in fitting in with Jayda's schedule and learning needs and we foresee a lengthy tutoring relationship.

Dania our tutor is a blessing! My daughter is able to open up to Dania and has managed to engage conversations/ relationship/ trust and so just after a few lessons she's now able to have a better understanding of maths concepts where as before she was really struggling to comprehend it. Although my daughter still has much more to learn I'm confident that Dania will be able to take her to the next level.

We had our 1st session tonight with David and it went really well. My son connected with him immediately even though he was nervous about tutoring and didn't really want to do it prior to tonight. After he had his session with David he said it was fun! I was pleasantly surprised to hear him say that and he asked that David come back next week instead of waiting a fortnight! We are very happy so far.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Waverley Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Moriah College.
