To instill confidence. During my school years I have found that many people do not believe themselves to be good at maths because it scares them. Before even trying to learn, they are convinced they can't do it, or it's too hard. My first aim would be to help students to comprehend that what they are trying to learn is not impossible, and that…
Tutoring one-on-one as opposed to teaching to a group allows a much more tailored approach to an indivudal student. Not everyone learns in the same way, so finding the perfect way for an individual student to understand a topic is the most important thing a tutor can do for a student. I'm told by my ex-students that I am very patient and willing…
Help the student understand the topic so well that they can go and explain it to their friends and help others learn. I am polite and patient and will answer and help a student no matter how long it takes for them to…
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is to make the subject matter enjoyable for students. 1. I believe my strengths would be being able to empathise with students, having a positive attitude towards learning, teaching and my subject, I have excellent communication skills and I'm patient and tolerant.
2. While I was a peer tutor, I…
Always be a support system academically for their student and listen to their concerns and questions. It is also important to be adjustable and able to adapt to any changes of learning styles for a student. However, the most important thing for a tutor to do is to always believe in them and their ability. I am very patient and good at problem…
If the tutor can give the student space to figure out the solutions to their problems and only step in once the student shows signs of struggling it is more beneficial for the student as this method will allow the student to learn to solve problems on their own. I am able to adapt my approach to teaching concepts for each student, meaning that I…
adaptability to the child's individual learning course patience, understanding and ability to get the student to actively engage in their creative or analytical…
It's crucial that tutors make students feel at ease during their sessions. I think giving encouragement to students when they achieve little things is very important. It helps them build self-confidence. As well as this, getting to know your students makes them feel valued and more likely to engage in the session. Encouragement played a massive…
Give them a fair go. Often students don't believe in themselves and their support systems may be limited, so, having someone who does believe in them and will work with them until they see success is very important, not only for their grades, but for their self esteem too. Being able to communicate effectively but also actively listen. Many…
I think being adaptable to each student's needs is important. A good tutor should be able to use the student's goals and current weak points to focus on what the student needs for success. 1. My maths ability. I got a 100 in Specialist Maths in grade 12 and have so far gotten 7s in all of my maths courses in university.
2. Explaining style. I can…
I am very patient and I will listen to what they are struggling with. I want them to know they are not alone and that I am there to help. I am able to assist them without judgement and help to encourage them to keep trying and work through each challenge. I want them to know I genuinely care about them and their progress and I am there to help. I…
Encourage the students so that they know that anything they want to learn they can do and that there are no limits for them and their learning. And teach them that all their capabilities are valuable and useful. Mainly, they are mentoring based on values such as respect and patience. Always seeking to develop discipline, perseverance and…
I think the most important thing a tutor can do is create a close enough relationship with the student so that the student believes they can trust the tutor and not be scared to ask questions, thus maximising the help they can recieve. I think my strength as a tutor is that I was able to get my high grades in high-school through diligence and hard…
In my opinion , a tutor should be capable of understanding the child's situation and help them with kindness. They should treat children without judging them. They should keep trying to teach children the difficult materials and should repeat every methods till they became good at it. I am really good at my subject and I am sure that I can teach…
I think the most important thing a tutor can do for their student is to be friendly, while maintaining professionalism, so that their student will not be afraid to ask for their help or to ask questions they may not have been able to ask in class. I think my strengths as a tutor include my willingness to go the extra mile, including writing…
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is set them up to be organised, on task and have good time management. This is important for examinations especially and gaining independence in their studies. My strengths as a tutor are not only my social skills but my explaining strategies. I use visual aids when i’m teaching someone and I…
Be relatable, be empathetic, and be encouraging. School for most children is not somewhere they wish to spend 8 hours a day. The best thing a tutor can do is stick with them and show them how to grow academically but mor importantly, as a person. I'm generally relatable, I was never good at school but I had an interest in math and decided I wanted…
- Be approachable about any problems the student may be having in the area of study
- be friendly, patient and accepting of the fact that everyone makes mistakes, helping the student overcome the challenges they face in the area of study without any judgement. This in turn builds confidence and comfort between tutor and student. Until year 9 I…
Patience is the most important aspect, showing frustration just makes students feel stressed and resentful. As a tutor we are there to make their life easier not add extra pressure or make them feel scared to ask questions about things they don't understand. I think my biggest strength as a tutor will be adaptability, I understand that we all…
I strongly believe all students learn differently and have their own unique study methods, therefore it is important for a tutor to adjust to the student's needs and personalise the study session. However, I also consider it useful that tutors help develop new study habits and introduce new ways to learn whilst tutoring in a way that the student…
I believe it is very important to understand the way the student learns and finding strategies which works best for them. I also consider building an effective relationship between the teacher and student important. This is because I believe it is has a great impact on their learning and is important to their success. I believe one of my…
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be empathetic. I remember my own struggles with learning and the shame that discouraged me from trying. I want my students to feel that their personal needs are important and to understand that intelligence isn't measured by the time or effort it takes to learn something. I…
As a tutor, the most important thing is to impart confidence to the student, where they believe in themselves and their ability to overcome problems they face when learning. My friendly attitude gets the students to open up and tell me what they are struggling with in the subject. However, when need be, I can be serious and put down my foot to…
Flynn is going well with his tutor. We have had 2 sessions and they have been productive. Thanks for your service.
Finn is responding well to Anthony's tutoring, thank you. Anthony is kind, knowledgeable and has a lovely manner. Finn is feeling more confident and we will be continuing with Anthony's weekly tutorials.
We are so happy and impressed with Pariese. She has already made a great rapport with Charlie, which was our initial concern. She is both both professional and engaging with an obvious passion for maths. She has given us feedback relating to Charlie's learning style and is active in finding strategies to suit him. The fact that he looks forward to his lesson, is a testament in itself. She is always punctual and happy to have a brief at the end of each session. I have spoken to Pariese about Charlie needing long term tutoring, to which she agreed.
