Ancient History Tutor Richmond, NSW
The utterly most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to listen and understand. To listen to them talk about where they need the extra help and why the believe they do not get the certain material, and to understand how they best learn. I believe that tutoring is beneficial to both parties as I am able to teach my students as well as…

Inside The SlopesTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Sienna practiced the split and compensation strategies for multi-digit addition and subtraction, along with revising times tables.

Year 10 student Justin worked on interpreting film techniques in "Whale Rider" and developed structured essay paragraphs using a simplified writing strategy.

Meanwhile, year 11 student Daniel focused on trigonometry skills including calculating sine, cosine, and tangent values as well as reviewing quadratic equations through step-by-step problem solving.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student in English struggled to recall previous concepts, as "when asked about earlier work, only the basics were remembered."

Extended gaps without revision made foundational content harder to retain and slowed progress.

In senior Maths, one student repeatedly forgot homework and avoided using math rules when practicing at home; this meant classroom strategies weren't reinforced independently.

For a Year 11 class, over-reliance on calculators—"calculator problems (hard to solve without irl interference)"—led to less confidence with manual methods.

In creative writing for Year 6, messy paragraph structure made it difficult to express ideas clearly, resulting in frustration mid-task.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in The Slopes noticed a big shift with one Year 10 student: after struggling to focus during sessions, she recently completed all set trigonometry questions without getting distracted, even choosing not to take her usual break.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 student who used to quietly guess when stuck now asks for help as soon as she's unsure, making it much easier to address misunderstandings on the spot.

In primary years, one boy began making his own revision notes and found ways to moderate his fidgeting so it no longer interrupts his work—something he'd found really tough before.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Thanks for your email.  Our decision to discontinue the tutoring was not due to any dissatisfaction - quite the opposite.  My daughter only had a few sessions with her tutor, and in that time gained a huge amount of confidence in her abilities.  The tutor was able to reassure her that she wasn't as bad at maths as she believed.  This new-found confidence enabled my daughter to discuss openly with her teacher the difficulties she was having, and get some extra help at school.  Since then, she has performed markedly better in her assignments and tests. Natasha is an excellent tutor and I would highly recommend your company to anyone experiencing difficulty with Maths. Thanks for the follow up and for all your help.

Douglas was great & Liam responded well with him - But the school have always had in house tutoring that Liam was uncomfortable attending - But with Douglas's input he now feels confident to go and take that path. As I pay School fees this makes more sense than another outlay on top.  He is making great progress and all is well.

Just wanted to let you know that Mark seems like a good match for Nik. He really likes him and had a really successful first session. Thanks for your support and assistance in finding him!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Richmond Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Hawkesbury Independent School.
