Especially for younger students, I believe that it is important to not only teach the subject, but to lead by example to influence the children to adopt good values such as kindness, patience and tenacity. I can be strict or friendly depending on the needs of the student, so each student's experience will be different in order for them to realise…

Every student has different expectations from a tutor and thus the most important thing might vary from student to student. Some of them might just be looking for a pass in the subject whereas others might be looking for really good grades. For some grades wont even matter and they strive for understanding the subject thoroughly. I believe the…

I think that the most important thing a tutor can do is to help a student love learning because in this way, they will be able to fully grasp the main purpose of education. I believe that one of my strengths is my desire to help people and get the satisfaction in seeing others succeed. This attribute consequently relates to myself being…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is guide a student. Just watering is not enough but should help the students to grow his roots so that the student grasps the concepts not just answer some previously seen examples. I like to teach students in a way that is interactive and not directive.I feel that the more students learn about the…

The most important thing a tutor needs to do is help the students understand. This comes in many aspects as simply explaining to them new concepts is not enough. A good tutor should listen to their student's problems and try to solve them in the best way possible and if needed, get back to them later. Also, regular feedback should be given to the…

In my mind, not only a tutor provides knowledge for a student but also brings out their best characteristics. During the teaching procedures, a tutor can help student to learn better the subject, be fond of it, and through that teaches them social skills or practical application. The most important thing is to learn what the student needs. It is easy to go off track and teach all the information you know, but I believe the students' request come first. Even though the students might not know what they need, the tutor should work with them and identify which areas the student need improvements on. Hence, the tutor could…

The most important things a tutor can do is knowing the right way to support and motivate the student to grow academically. A tutor should also have a strong understanding of the subject so they can break lessons or problems into simpler terms, while still making the class fun and interactive. I think the important thing for a tutor is to be clear in their concepts so that they can explain and teach their student in a clear and understanding way. As a tutor you need to make sure you test the student so that you know where they stand and then start from there. Evaluating the progress is just as essential. I consider myself a well…

This increases the chances of consistent work and improvement while also increasing the level of enjoyment while working. It is also important to help them gain an…

As I have mentioned above, every student's different capabilities and strategies to learn in their own way need to be considered before even beginning to tutor them. If a tutor teaches without having this in mind, there are chances that even after months of teaching, the student will not grasp the information as well as he/she probably could if…

As for me, the most crucial thing should be improving their academic performances while arousing their interest in studying. To be specific, these are what I consider responsible tutorial behaviors. 1. Do sufficient pre-class preparation and make notes for every key point that you are going to talk about in detail. 2. Be patient in class. Think…

I want my students to be able not only to learn the given subjects/materials but also to learn how to learn. I believe it depends highly on the students understanding and their level of education. However in saying this, the ability to create interest and enjoyment in a subject is the most important. Inside TravancoreTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Max focused on multiplying and dividing mixed numbers, converting between improper fractions and decimals, and practised placing decimal points accurately during operations.

In Year 8, Lola tackled triangle side length and angle problems using trigonometric formulae like arcsin, as well as analysing literary themes and preparing essay arguments for her assessment on Brave New World.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Max reviewed substitution into graph formulae, worked through coordinate geometry questions involving negative number laws and exponentials, and reinforced his understanding by reading textbook problems aloud.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 Maths, one student often skipped back-checking their work on fractions and division, leading to repeated errors—he tries to add and subtract denominators, as he always forgets to first find a common denominator.

In VCE Chemistry, exam revision was left until the last minute, causing stress and limited time for consolidation.

Meanwhile, in Year 10 English, another student hesitated to express opinions in essays and defaulted to quoting texts instead of expanding on their own ideas. This pattern resulted in less developed arguments during class discussions and slower essay planning under time pressure.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Travancore noticed Violet, a senior student, has started coming to each session with her own targeted questions and is now quick to ask for clarification when she's unsure—something she hesitated to do before.

In Year 9 maths, Max showed new independence by reading content himself first and diving straight into homework without prompting, which made the lesson more productive than usual.

For a younger student, Matthew breezed through a reading comprehension task that used to slow him down, showing how his practice is making these activities much smoother.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Flemington Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Flemington Primary School.
