What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The most I enjoy about tutoring is the happiness I feel when individuals understand my working on a problem or explanation of a concept. If they can successfully dissect a similar problem then I have achieved my goal.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe that when I explain a problem that one has difficulty , I explain the problem thoroughly from the start detailing each step and checking back regularly during my working to see if they understand. For example I did some general tutoring for AAHL mathematics during year 12 in QASMT, where fellow peers came to me if they had a problem. I was able to communicate concisely, writing steps out logically and with structure whilst explaining each step in depth.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe that one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to explain the concept behind a problem more thoroughly than do the problem itself with them. This can be achieved by breaking up a complex problem, which may rely on more than one mathematical concept such as trig and calculus. By splitting up the parts of the question into their relative concepts, check with the student whether they understand the fundamental laws of the concept such as how to do u-substitution. If they have issues, then go back to the fundamentals of the concept.

My explanations for some of the harder questions were not clear as I was rushing a little bit.
I think Will was able to grasp the concept of Venn diagrams and was able to see how they allow you to visualise complex word problems

I think for the harder questions my explanation was not as concise as it could have been.
I think Will understood the working out behind each problem and fundamental concept and was able to apply it.

I think I need a bit more work on explanations of key concepts more clearly and with coherence.
I think William learned some new techniques around the binomial expansion, how to find terms using the formula.

Next time I should come with some work set out for William to go over and some notes on the concepts.
