Science Tutor Bonnells Bay, NSW
I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is listen to what they don’t understand and coming up with different ways that relate to that child that will help them to understand the question, and any other future questions based on the same problem. I am patient and understanding allowing me to have multiple approaches to…

Science Tutor Bonnells Bay, NSW
In order for the relationship between and student and tutor to bloom, the tutor needs to be a good listener, patient, honest, flexible, confident and willing to collaborate. I believe I am capable of all these items, and more. I believe I am patient, and have a creative way of teaching. I am enthusiastic in all aspects of life, and tutoring is no…

Science Tutor Dora Creek, NSW
To be patient, it can be hard to be patient when it is easy for us as adults as we know the topic, but patience is so important to remember that they are learning, just as we did one day. I am extroverted, I love people and love to socialise, so I will make my tutoring lesson fun for the…

Inside Yarrawonga ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Claudia practiced adding and subtracting like fractions as well as converting between decimals and basic fractions, using visual aids for better understanding.

Year 7 student Nina focused on multiplying and adding different types of fractions, along with finding the Lowest Common Multiple for two numbers.

For Year 8, Leonardo tackled linear equations and explored profit and loss calculations by applying percentage change to real-world scenarios.

Recent Challenges

The failure to complete the set homework just sets her progress back by delaying time, as a Year 7 student often left set homework incomplete, which meant time in sessions was spent re-covering old material rather than advancing to new concepts.

In Year 10, messy written work made it difficult for a student to follow her own solutions when adding fractions and working with place value, occasionally causing confusion and errors.

For a Year 9 student, avoidance of reviewing feedback on test mistakes led to repeated misunderstandings in probability questions; as one tutor observed, "she needed more practice applying corrections from past quizzes but skipped over them."

Recent Achievements

One Yarrawonga Park tutor noticed a Year 10 student who had previously hesitated to speak up now actively asking for help whenever she hit a roadblock in algebra, instead of just guessing as she used to.

In another session, a Year 8 student, after struggling with calculating perimeters and areas of composite shapes, started tackling new questions independently by applying the taught formulas—something she hadn't tried before.

Meanwhile, a younger student who once relied on her fingers for basic sums is now adding and subtracting numbers in her head confidently; this week, she completed all mental math tasks without prompts or finger-counting.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Everything seems to be going along quite well at the moment, Lawrence is a nice tutor and Arawyn seems to like him.

Thanks for the email Erica, we have been very happy with Enya, she is making lots of effort to have interesting ways to teacher Jasper  the maths concepts and he is very happy after each session.

Thanks Erica, Jemma & Hunter get along very well I'm pleased to report. I've observed that Jemma has that natural communication talent that all gr8 teachers have i.e. they engage you with their knowledge.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Wangi Library Creative Hub, wanji wanji—or at your child's school (with permission), like Brightwaters Christian College.
