The most important impact I would love to make for my student's are to let them know how highly important education is however I would want them to work to the best of their ability and not stress themselves out. Implementing different learning strategies for each individual based on their personalities and way of learning is highly essential as I…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do is be supportive because no matter how much a student studies they can’t succeed if they don’t have a support system, helping them along the way and having someone who is understanding and wants them to grow as a human not only academically. I think that I’m very understanding due to my own…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is increase their motivation and actually make them enjoy learning and passionate so that studying is not a boring chore or a task to be completed but something that they look forward to so that ultimately their performance is improved. The most important thing is to make sure your student knows they can do it and that anything is possible when they put there mind to it. I’d encourage my students to do as much extra work as possible which I would provide and heaps of past papers. And to also always ask questions to ensure they are constantly engaged and learning My strengths…

The most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is to never give up on them. I am confident that everyone has the ability to achieve great results given the right amount of effort and proper guidance. I believe a tutor can offer a student so much more that just knowledge; the encouragement of a tutor can unlock a student’s potential and lead them towards consistent success. Tutoring sessions can make a student feel heard and understood which is so important in a student’s journey through self discovery in their schooling years. As a tutor,…

As a tutor cannot take exams or do homework for the student, the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to have faith in the student's ability and assist the student in every way possible to ensure that the student has faith in their own ability to achieve their goals. Patience, passion and empathy. Patience as it takes time to…

The most important thing a tutor can do is be patient and personable with the student. Tutoring is very different from a school environment, in that the benefits that exist are going at a pace that is suitable to the student's needs. Tutors are understanding and can target specific difficulties in a student's learning. We also not only identify…

Finding out whether a student is a visual, auditory or kinesthetic learner is important. By discovering how the student learns best, I believe he will be able to reach his true potential. To do this, a tutor must be malleable in his teaching methods and communication. Furthermore, it is crucial that the tutor and student create a bond that reaches…

I think it's a question of what a tutor can BE rather than do. I found in my experience that I always responded to teachers who were enthusiastic and portrayed a genuine care for the learning of the student. In a metaphorical sense, the tutor must think like a student in an empathetic way rather than merely be a one way stream of instruction. If a…

Tutoring can be challenging, especially when it comes to motivating your learner. Living in such a busy and demanding time can often make us feel the time constraints on everything we do and we expect our…

There are 3 things a tutor must do in order to be successful and respected: listen, care and try (all three of these are my strongest points). Inside Condell ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Tarek practised probability with Venn diagrams and basic set notation, while Year 10 student Omar worked on trigonometric ratios using SOH CAH TOA and exact value tables from Exercise 6A of the Cambridge textbook.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Sarah focused on polynomial division and learned to apply the remainder theorem through guided examples and homework questions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student's algebra work was often hard to follow, as messy setting out and misaligned equal signs disrupted their thought process—"his working out needs a lot of work, can be messy at times," one tutor noted.

In Year 12, forgetting to show all steps in calculus led to avoidable errors on exam questions, which meant time was lost rechecking answers instead of building confidence.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 student relied heavily on using fingers for calculations when faced with worded problems involving operations, slowing progress and masking gaps in applying multiplication or division flexibly.

Recent Achievements

One Condell Park tutor noticed a big shift with a Year 11 student who, after struggling to set out "show and prove" questions clearly, now draws diagrams first and uses them to guide her answers—something she hadn't tried before.

In Year 10, another student recently tackled domain and range by asking the hardest questions he could think of, then worked through each one until he understood fully instead of giving up early.

Meanwhile, a primary student named Scarlett shaved time off her times tables speed test and raised her score after practicing strategies suggested in tutoring sessions.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Canterbury Bankstown Library Service—or at your child's school (with permission), like Condell Park Public School.
