After the first months of tutoring passed by I noticed that what most students necessitate was a method, a fixed pattern to follow whilst studying. Then, my objective became to teach students how to learn properly: my aim was to assist them in finding their own way of studying and learning. As the result of five years of University study, I have…

The tutor has so many key responsibilities and actions to do. As he/she needs to aware that individuals are understanding, there should be effective communication, setting realistic goals, creating a supportive environment and also providing them a constructive feedback. A tutor must be able to secure a positive impression of the subject in the student's mind, regardless of how arduous the subject content might be. A tutor is a third parent and must have immense patience to ensure that the child grasps each and every detail, even if they ask us to repeat what we taught. Besides, as tutors, we must always advocate…

As per my opinion, I think the most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is to be their friend and guide and help them as their friend. More often than not, students fear approaching tutors. But if you have maintained a friendly relation with your students, your students will not hesitate in coming and speaking with you. This way, a…

One of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to be proud of all the improvements the student has done. It's not about congratulating them for being a high achieving student. Instead, we should congratulate them for any improvement that they have done, since that is one step closer to success. I believe one of my strengths is…

Try make tutoring fun, students no matter how hard you try will not retain information and be willing to learn if they are really against it. So by presenting the content in a fun but still effective manner, it is bound to show results. The most important thing when it comes to content is to not spoon feed them with the right answers, you need…

In my opinion, learning and getting good grades are two things that complement each other. Once students have a firm grasp of the knowledge points in the learning phase, then they will have enough confidence to cope with the exam. As a tutor, you need to help students absorb knowledge more easily at the stage of learning knowledge. For example,…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be patient. Never give up on students. There are 2 jobs of a tutor. To make the student understand what they are learning and also encourage them to do quality practice questions. I also know the importance of practicing these…

The first and foremost is being patient. Not everyone can learn and understand concepts at the same pace, so patience is very important. Inside CremorneTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 Jonas reviewed algebra concepts and perimeter for both regular and irregular shapes, then worked through an angles worksheet with extension into angle types.

Year 8 Jamie focused on comparing and simplifying fractions, followed by work on percentages, decimals, and how they relate to fractions.

For Year 10 Jonas, lessons included statistics—such as five-number summary analysis—and extending algebra skills using targeted worksheets.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student, when working through trigonometry and statistics tasks, sometimes left diagrams or graphs missing key labels—one note read, "Remember to write the title for x & y axis & Dun forget to write '0' in the left bottom corner."

In a Year 8 algebra lesson, calculation errors crept in because handwritten numbers (especially 0 and 6) were hard to distinguish; confusion led to time wasted double-checking their own work.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 student often hesitated on multi-step worded problems, showing less confidence and skipping answer checks after finishing. This resulted in avoidable errors persisting across sessions.

Recent Achievements

One Cremorne tutor noticed a big shift with a Year 11 student who used to struggle with statistics; after three weeks reviewing quartiles and box plots, he now finds Q1, median, and Q3 quickly and accurately without prompts.

Meanwhile, a Year 9 student who was hesitant to ask for help has started actively decoding complex algebra word problems on her own and confidently checks her process aloud as she works.

In primary, one Year 6 student recently figured out the formula for the area of a parallelogram himself after an initial explanation—something he'd found confusing before.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Richmond Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Melbourne Girls Grammar - Morris Hall Campus.
