By first giving the student the necessary skills to complete a range of questions this equips them with the tools to complete any question. I then allow the student to make the mistake first and learn from it by helping them change what they did. This is then followed up with an example response to a question then the student is given the chance…

The most important thing a maths tutor can do is give a student the confidence to continue to achieve and learn for themselves. If they can believe in themselves and keep working, they will succeed regardless of their level. I am personable and easy-going, able to meet the student where they need to be met. I have a genuine passion for mathematics…

It is important for tutors to explicitly explain and model how to solve mathematical problems to begin with and then gradually reduce assistance until the student is able to work independently. It is also important for tutors to motivate students through positive reinforcement and to incorporate metacognitive strategies. My strengths as a tutor…

I believe one of the most important things a maths tutor can do for a student is be encouraging and understanding. As a student it can be hard and that is the reason you are getting tutoring. So to have someone encourage you can be a great reason to keep learning. I think my strengths as a tutor would be my patience and communication skills, as…

I think that as a maths tutor you must listen to what your student needs and give that to them. Each student will learn differently so it is extremely important that as a tutor you tailor your teaching approach to that student and their needs in order for them to learn best. As I just left school in 2021 I have a good understanding of the…

I think the most important thing a maths tutor can do for a student is to not only understand where the student is at within their academics, but in their personal life as well. A student's schooling can be very stressful and there is a lot of pressure from others. My role would be to make sure that I am not pressuring them, and that we reward…

Struggling with math problems can often feel demoralising and futile, especially when peers “get it†but you don’t. I believe the most important things a maths tutor can do for a student is to help them view the concepts from different angles, guide them through problem solving steps, and increase their confidence in their ability to grasp…

The most important thing a maths tutor can do for a student is to understand the needs of their student and develop effective resources that work for THAT student. It is also important to recognise what kind of work load people are capable of handling so that you do not overwhelm them with tasks, as this would be counterproductive. So I guess,…

Inside Long JettyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Ben practised multiplication and division using different visual strategies and worked on understanding subtraction fundamentals.

In Year 11, Olivia focused on coordinate geometry and trigonometry by solving application questions with diagrams to support reasoning.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student James tackled Chemistry concepts like equilibrium and solubility product calculations alongside advanced Mathematics topics including integration techniques and probability scenarios.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Physics, a student's written responses became overly long and disorganized; as one tutor noted, "answers are way too extensive," making revision difficult.

In Year 8 Maths, a student struggled to start unfamiliar problems, often needing to reread the textbook before attempting questions.

Anxiety under timed conditions led another high schooler to lose focus during assessments.

For a Year 4 reading task, motivation dipped when tackling non-fiction texts—writing quickly resulted in spelling errors and missing key details.

During primary maths revision, not writing down working meant important steps were forgotten by the next session.

Recent Achievements

A Long Jetty tutor recently noticed Mohit, a high school student, shifting from quietly listening to actively asking questions whenever he's unsure—something he hesitated to do just weeks ago.

In Year 11 chemistry, he also started working out tough concepts on his own before checking with the tutor, showing much more independence than at the start of term.

Meanwhile, Amari in Year 5 moved past guessing through multiplication and now recites his 2 and 3 times tables smoothly without prompts.

Charlie, in early primary, read a full Dr Seuss book aloud after refusing longer stories last month.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We have been very happy with Pat. Harriet has definitely progressed well in her maths under Pats tutoring.

Martha is an extremely polite and professional young woman. Martha is pleasant to deal with and is always on time. Anna is comfortable with and has enjoyed her sessions with Martha and has confidence in Martha's ability to help her with Maths.

We have no doubt the extra tutoring with Mina got Jamison over the line for a solid band 6.

Maths tutoring in Long Jetty

As our company name suggests, we want to make tutoring "Ezy" for parents, students and tutors! We're super passionate about education and especially about maths. Helping a student reach levels of accomplishment that were previously unknown changes their life and sets them up for long term success. It's a "feel good" experience for the student, for parents...and of course for us! Our testimonials are the inspiration that keep us going through hard times. Tutoring works well when it is consistent, reliable, flexible and easy to manage ... otherwise, for a combination of reasons, we don't get the impact we want.

So here's how the service works: We will organise for a local maths tutor in Long Jetty to reach out to you and organise the time and day for the lesson. The tutor comes to you. You can have the tutoring as often or as little as you like. There are no booking fees or "extras" of any sort. You simply get an invoice at the end of each month for the tuition time used. Best of all, your first lesson works as a trial, so if for some reason the tutor isn't a good fit for your family, you won't be charged for that lesson!

Ezy! Try us, 1300 312 354.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as The Entrance Library & Council Services—or at your child's school (with permission), like Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School.
