I think developing a friendly relationship is one of the most important things a tutor can do. By doing this, students feel more confident and happy to truly engage with their tutor, ask any questions they possibly could have, which I think ultimately leads to better learning. I have a real passion for STEM subjects (especially Math methods and…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to make them understand the concepts pertaining to the subject they teach, so that the students can understand the subject better instead of making them memorize stuff. I am a really patient and understanding individual. To teach or tutor anyone, one should be patient enough to explain the…

As a one-on-one teaching assistant with more than one year of experience, providing some notes and problem-solving skills to students, and the notes would not be covered by their school. Furthermore, the tutoring note would be based on the studying situation of different students, so the teaching notes would have strong pertinence and thus help…

As a tutor, you can\'t approach each student as if they are the same person learning the same subject. Each individual has different weaknesses and strengths. For a tutor to recognise this fact is detrimental to ensuring the tutor can target each student\'s weaknesses effectively instead of wasting time. Having been a student myself, I know time…

My most important things that I would do for a student would be to adapt to the way that they learn rather than using a one-size-fits-all method as every student learns differently and does things in a certain way in order for them to succeed. Another critical point is developing a mindset and motivation that focuses on learning and then…

I belive that tutors are not merely teachers but mentors that guide students through their learning. Tutors, especially those who has been a student themselves are able to employ their experiences to provide advice to students on effective study methods and techniques that can truely build a student’s confidence for a certain subject. Having…

Build their self confidence and the ability to be self sufficient. Mindset and attitude plays the most vital role to success in life. The most important things that a tutor can do for a student is to allow their minds to create their own version of knowledge rather than just gaining a pre-existing idea. It's only when we challenge the students to think out of the box that they actually start realising the importance of what was in the box. Giving them a vivid imagination can be a…

The most important thing for me would be patience - to ensure that you allow your student/s time to try and follow what is being taught, and to be understanding of different strengths/levels the student is at. I believe if I understand a concept really well (difficult or not), then I am able to explain it in a way that makes sense to a wide range…

Local Reviews

Ezymaths were very professional and helpful. They are excellent at communicating, offering written or verbal advice, updates, payment notices etc. Even when our first tutor didn't quite suit my child, they arranged a second more suitable one within days. It's great that they come to you and fit with your schedule even when things change.

Inside Park OrchardsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Daniel worked on converting fractions to decimals and percentages, along with simplifying using the distributive law.

For Year 9, Chloe focused on solving linear equations and simultaneous equations, using step-by-step algebraic techniques to prepare for an upcoming assessment.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Olivia tackled quadratic equations by calculating discriminants and applying the quadratic formula, as well as simplifying surds and indices in practice problems.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 Physics student, when facing unfamiliar exam formats, often relied on long-term memory rather than recent practice—this led to slower responses and missed details ("Kirill elected to answer some questions based on long term memory, resulting in slower exam taking").

In Year 9 Mathematics, a student struggled with rearranging equations due to not consistently using pen and paper for working steps, which made tracking errors harder.

Meanwhile, a Year 3 learner avoided expanding on her writing plan, so stories remained brief and underdeveloped.

These patterns meant time was lost untangling misunderstandings or revisiting unfinished work instead of building new skills.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Park Orchards noticed that a Year 11 student, previously hesitant to ask for help, now actively raises questions during sessions when confused—especially while tackling complex matrix topics.

Another high schooler who used to make frequent errors on quantitative exam questions recently completed a full test much faster and with almost no mistakes, showing real improvement in both speed and accuracy.

In the younger years, one Year 3 student has started independently checking her writing for punctuation errors before moving on—a big shift from needing constant reminders in earlier lessons.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Warrandyte Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Park Orchards Primary School.
