The most important thing other than to improve their academic performances is to maintain the high quality environment and encourage the students’ passion for one subject. My experience with young children allows me to relate and empathise with them more. With that, I can analyse and prepare a suitable study plan or method to help…

To me, the most important thing a physics tutor has to do is to answer the student's needs (answering questions, explaining concepts...), while making him think and open his mind, so that the next time he won't make the same errors twice. More than that, a tutor should represent good values such as respect, kindness, empathy, and solidarity. I…

Not to do the work for the student. I think that a physics tutor should be prepared as well as eager for ever lesson and flexible to adjust to the needs of their student. A tutor's enthusiasm should encourage their student. Tutors should be imaginative and creative in order to help their student understand as well as make sure that they will…

You have to be able to listen and be patient because learning can be difficult for a lot of people. Also it’s very important you adapt to their way of learning instead of forcing your way of learning on to them because what works for you is not always gonna work on everyone else. So adapt, listen and patience. My strengths are that I’m patient…

As a physics tutor, it is your obligation to teach in a way that your pupil develops a passion for the topic he is learning. There is nothing worst than somebody who is bored while learning. Focusing on deeply understanding and on practical application is key to awaken a desire to continue learning. "If you can't explain it to a six year old, you…

Helping to approach the problems from different perspectives, that makes the student get more independency regarding the subject to solve future problems by himself. Since the tutor acts as a role model for the student, the most important thing a physics tutor can do is to take this opportunity to act as a mentor. By taking this role on board, the dynamic increases and the tutor can effectively teach. My greatest strength is patience and empathy. I have noticed the smartest tutors are not the best tutors. Poor…

I think the single most important thing is to help the student build confidence. The tutor is there to assist and guide the student but the student ultimately needs to be able to succeed on their own. A good tutor will clarify and explain concepts but ultimately their goal should be to motivate and guide the student. I think one of my biggest…

Being able to formulate different approaches on the go is something a physics tutor should be able to do in order for the students to understand at their own pace. A tutor should also be patient in order to make the student feel welcomed whenever they are in a predicament academically. Other than that, a tutor should be friendly so the students…

In my opinion, these are: -High level of emotional connection to really see the needs of the student. -High adaptability in its own way of teaching, since maybe there is a different way in which the student can understand more and/or better. -Patience, especially in subjects that are tricky to get. I have a very applied way to understand…

I believe a physics tutor can make all the difference to a student struggling with their studies. School teaching can often be mechanical and impersonal; an environment where some students find it difficult to learn. I know first hand that teaching in smaller groups or one-on-one works is much more effective at learning hard to grasp concepts. The…

I think simply put a physics tutor should give a student confidence that they can learn anything that is presented to them. It might take a different approach than they initially thought of but my job is to show them these different approaches. I am aware that it is sometimes extremely difficult to understand information when it is presented in…

The most important thing that anyone can do for their student is to have them realise that everyone started where they are starting, nobody was born knowing anything, and just because you don't understand a concept now, doesn't mean you won't ever understand it. To acknowledge development and passion and help the student grow in a direction that they deem appropriate. It is important to get to know the student and their aspirations in order to achieve this. First and Foremost, teaching every topic, every concept as clearly as possible and ensuring that the student has actually understood it. Getting my son started w ezymathtutoring was very easy. Very helpful, attentive and prompt staff in identifying what was needed and how the process works. Our tutor contacted me within 36 hours and was very friendly. The best part is after 2 sessions my son feels a connection with his tutor and feels she explains things in a way he understands. I look forward to more progress in the future.

Inside WaverleyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Olivia worked on understanding pedigrees and homologous chromosomes in biology, also tackling past paper questions to prepare for her upcoming test.

In Year 10, Leni focused on financial maths, covering topics like deposits, repayments, and interest through textbook examples, as well as applying the speed-distance-time formula with practice problems.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student explored quadratic equations and their factorisation, along with reviewing variations on quadratics to strengthen algebraic problem-solving skills.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 maths, messy and incomplete working was a recurring obstacle—one session noted "steps were skipped or misremembered," making it hard to catch errors with fractions and algebra.

A Year 11 student in trigonometry showed persistent over-reliance on the calculator, struggling when syntax errors arose under time pressure.

For English in Year 8, anxiety about extending ideas led to short PEEL paragraphs; feedback wasn't actively taken up between sessions.

In primary years, lack of daily revision meant key ratio concepts faded quickly, with confusion returning after just a week.

By exam periods, some students became mentally fatigued and resorted to guesswork instead of methodical problem-solving.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Waverley noticed a Year 10 student who, after previously hesitating to ask for help, has begun openly checking her reasoning out loud and now tackles multi-step algebra problems without prompting.

In a recent high school English session, one student came prepared with his own plan for a writing task—something he'd never done before—and worked through constructing stronger paragraphs using the PEEL method.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who used to rush through reading passages is now pausing to identify key words before answering comprehension questions, leading to more accurate responses on her own.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I am very happy with Kavan, he is a great tutor, very patient and extremely intelligent.

We contacted Ezymath tutoring for assistance for my daughter in Year 12. From the start the company provided a professional and helpful service. Our tutor Tako was excellent. She was reliable, extremely knowledgeable, an excellent teacher and went over and above her hourly sessions. The format was formal with structured outline of each session with regular parent feedback. Would highly recommend this tutoring company.

I'd care to share something with you.  Whilst our son, Jordan has yet of course to complete his HSC and not wishing to tempt fate, his trials are over.  Last year, Y11 he received the award for #1 ranking in general maths.  Unfortunately his teacher moved overseas and let's just say the relationship between him and his new teacher wasn't as before.  His ranking swiftly dropped to sub 15!  To compound matters, 10 students during Y12 dropped down from 'advanced' to 'general' pushing Jordan's overall ranking to sub 20. Then we came to you for help.  Since Jordan has been studying with Suraj his standards steadily began improving once again and we're extremely happy to report that Jordan's overall trial's exam results pushed him up to 4th.  Remember, this included those who dropped down to 'general.'  Now that's a positive outcome.  Naturally, full credit must go to Jordan but without your assistance we would be facing a very different outcome.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Waverley Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Waverley Public School.
