A tutor must be patient and listen to how the student feels and explains their material. Without this we can't understand where the gaps are in the students knowledge OR whether they really do understand, but just in a different way. I have infinite patience, I can adjust my communication style, and I when faced with something unfamiliar I have…

I feel the most important things a tutor can do is to help a student learn how to learn so that they can be more self-reliant with their study in the future. Helping students to really engage with the subject and to understand the key concepts so that they can teach someone else is what I hope to achieve. Ability to listen to the student and…

The most important thing a tutor can do for their student is be able to get them back in the right direction when they are lost. To give the student the tools and knowledge to be able to further their own learning. My strengths as a tutor in particular are my versatility. Studying my second course I have obtained strong skills as well as a variety…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is make them feel as if they have tried their absolute hardest and have done their best. A student should feel confident and empowered going into their next exam or assessment as they have acquired a new understanding of the subject. I think I have the patience to take my time with students and…

Developing a relationship with students that allow you to communicate efficiently and effectively is integral to being a successful tutor. I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to boost their self-confidence. Learning, like everything else, is dependent on one's perception of one's abilities. Students who are confident in their abilities are more likely to be motivated than students who think they will never succeed. I think my strength as a tutor would be…

Inside BrisbaneTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Norah practised subtraction involving borrowing and also worked on telling time using analog clocks.

For Year 10, Jackson reviewed simultaneous equations before focusing on key algebra skills relevant to current classwork.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Mia concentrated on scatterplots and linear equations in the form y = mx + c, including calculating residuals for data analysis.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student preparing for an exam struggled to remember formulas for arithmetic and geometric sequences, as the tutor observed: "She needs to practice more questions and try and memorise the equations so it will help her for her exam."

In Year 12 English, not finishing the assigned reading ("Animal Farm") meant deeper analysis of metaphors was missed.

For a Year 7 student, forgetting key strategies in subtraction led to mistakes—one note read, "would forget to use the 3 rules without prompting."

When work was incomplete or guidelines overlooked, students lost marks despite knowing content.

Recent Achievements

A Brisbane tutor noticed a Year 10 student who previously hesitated to show working in maths now confidently writes out each step for addition, subtraction, and multiplication problems—this shift from mental calculation has really improved his accuracy.

Another high schooler tackling linear algebra put in noticeably more effort than before after some practical study tips were shared; he managed to focus fully on tricky topics despite usually flagging after school.

In English, a senior student recently produced an insightful media analysis, integrating online tools independently to refine her spelling and grammar before submitting her project.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I have used other tutors and tutor services in the past however the difference with ezymath was that I received regular reports on how my son was progressing and also tips and tools to enhance his learning.  The tutoring is very structured and also disciplined which kept my son on track.  Yesterday we received his year 9 Naplan results and he achieved a Band 10, and his results last semester at school were excellent and his confidence and ability has improved immensely  , many thanks to ezymath and his fantastic tutor.

Ezy Math tutoring gave me an invaluable opportunity and experience. With fortnightly advice, support and materials I was able to give my all to my students. The reward being an invaluable satisfaction when the mother heard from my students' teacher that her work was really improving. I really enjoyed the experience and always left the students feeling like I had made a change. For prospective tutors I would say Ezy Maths is a great place to work, they provide plenty of materials, support and the staff are very co-operative and understanding about your needs

Matt was excellent, he helped Josh immensely. I only wish we had started earlier. I now know who to come to for my other two children. Thank you.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Brisbane Square Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like The Industry School - Brisbane.
