I think it's important for a maths tutor to understand their students educational needs and to help them learn how to apply themselves in the most effective way. The student should be happy with their education and the way their progressing in their subjects. The students need to feel comfortable enough with their tutor to ask for help, and feel…

Teaching the student to be motivated to learn, and how to learn and access the resources they need to learn is the most important things a maths tutor can do for a student. Once the student is confident that they can learn, they can become a much better independent learner, and require much tutelage outside of class. I consider one of my most…

Tutors need to be consistent, organised, as well as encouraging to help students feel motivated to achieve their academic goals. By creating motivation for students, students can also improve in their other subjects through their consistent studying patters that are shown by tutors. As a tutor, I am organised and can create plans for others for…

I can be there for a student and reassure them that human brains are sometimes complicated but once you take down the barriers to learning, then you can really take off. It's alright to be confused, it's a sign you're thinking. You're almost there, and if we talk about it and try some simpler examples, then it will all fall into place. Since 2019…

Teaching is not about your own academic ability but being able to explain content in a way the student can understand. The most important thing a maths tutor can do is find the specific way a student learns and use that to teach. I’m highly emotional intelligent and mental health conscious. Helping students expand their knowledge and understanding around a topic is a given in tutoring as that is what students are coming to see tutors in the first instance. However, I believe that as someone with great knowledge and wisdom, a maths tutor also has a responsibility to help students acquire the skills to grow and learn. I think a key…

I think the most important thing a maths tutor can do is provide a unique way to view and understand a problem when the initial approach is confusing the student. I think viewing problems alternatively can really assist light-bulb moments of understanding, because I believe one explanation can never work for everyone. I think I’m articulate…

I'd say the most important thing a maths tutor can do is present a subject's content in an accessible and positive way, as often this will help the student develop their own passion for the subject which is the most beneficial thing for their grades and academic experiences. Inside WoodfordTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Ethan worked on calculating perimeter and area as well as converting decimals to percentages, using real-world examples for practice.

In Year 9, Mia revised solving simultaneous equations and explored proportionality through challenging past exam questions.

For Year 10, Sarah focused on financial maths concepts such as calculating taxable income and Medicare levy, alongside preparation for her upcoming assessment by reviewing a recent worksheet.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student often left homework incomplete, especially in algebra and bearings, which limited opportunities for targeted feedback—one tutor noted, "set homework should be completed."

In Year 11 Financial Maths, missed practice with tax and Medicare levy questions led to hesitation and second-guessing during problem-solving.

A Year 8 student arrived without organized materials or written working; as observed, "distracted easily, unorganised," which made it harder to track errors or review methods later.

Meanwhile, a Year 3 student struggled with letter formation and sight words; confusion between 'j' and 'i' slowed reading progress during number activities.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Woodford recently noticed a Year 10 student who used to hesitate when tackling trigonometry now confidently finds missing angles and sides using trig and Pythagoras, even taking the lead with questions instead of waiting for prompts.

Another high schooler showed real growth in algebra—where she once second-guessed herself, she now works through index laws with increasing intuition and achieved a strong mark on her last exam.

Meanwhile, a younger student made steady progress in reading aloud: after struggling with new words, he now recognises familiar ones more easily and reads sentences out loud with fewer pauses.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Thank you for your email... I would also like to thank you for sending Angela to tutor Claudia. She is fantastic and is really helping Claudia and Claudia is very happy to have her as her tutor.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and Mohammed once again for everything. The standard of tutoring was outstanding and most of all Elise gained from it proving so with her results. Mohammed was a pleasure to have in our home being the polite gentleman he is. Such a credit to you and your company. I would have no hesitation in recommending Ezy Math Tutoring to anyone.

Thought I would drop you an email to let you know Aaron took his first lesson with the boys last night and everything seemed to go very well.  Brook and Lewis both commented on how the learning methods given were helpful and will hopefully put these in place. Thank you and hopefully this will be a turning point in the boys attitude towards this subject.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Lawson Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Blue Mountains Steiner School.
