Science Tutor Ourimbah, NSW
A tutor in my perspective must be flexible and must be willing to offer any form of support, I.e. helping solve problems, explain concepts in detail, clear misconceptions, etc. Also it is important always maintains a positive attitude and encourages students to learn more. I also think a tutor should be able to provide their students with the…

Science Tutor Tumbi Umbi, NSW
I think the most important things a tutor can do are to build the student's confidence, explain concepts in a way that suits their learning style, and create a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions. It's not just about giving them the answers, it's about helping them understand the process so they can become…

Science Tutor Hamlyn Terrace, NSW
Create a supportive and positive learning environment: It’s crucial to establish trust, where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. A positive, encouraging atmosphere helps boost their confidence and motivation. I think a strength I have as a tutor is communication. As it assists me in breaking down concepts into…

Science Tutor Hamlyn Terrace, NSW
The most important thing a tutor could do is create a safe environment for the student. Learning can be more comprehensive and explicit once the student is comfortable around their tutor’s presence. The tutor also must maintain and adhere to an elaborate study plan to help the student. I am very patient and would never snap even on being asked…

Personalise the students lesson towards their learning perspectives and needs. Not every student is the same and nor will they learn the same. its important to be adaptable, and use different approaches when needed to for the maximum success of the students learning. I came from a background of going from a level of Math 1 learning in year 11 and…

Local Reviews

Sarah has a very pleasant demeaner and is very patient with my year 8 daughter. Sarah knows how to keep her on track whilst still engaging in things that my daughter wants to tell her, thus forming a great learning environment. I have observed them together and they are well suited to each other. Sarah's tutoring style is positive and encouraging. Her knowledge is excellent, and I would highly recommend Sarah to anyone..

Inside Central CoastTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Jayden worked through rearranging and solving equations as well as plotting graphs of linear equations, focusing on the use of the balance method.

Year 8 student Mia focused on volume and surface area of cylinders, with practice problems involving unit conversions and diagrams to visualise solutions.

For Year 5, Ruby revised multiplication facts—especially the 9, 10, and 12 times tables—and explored strategies for remembering them while also practicing division basics.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student, after eagerly working through algebra steps, often forgot key processes and struggled to write clear working—"he needs to concentrate and write clearer working out."

In a Year 10 session, confusion between indices and multiplication led to repeated errors, showing the need for targeted review rather than just more practice.

For a Year 4 learner, skipping note-taking on modules meant forgotten formulas when quizzed later.

Meanwhile, in Year 11, incomplete homework before sessions left little time for test revision—resulting in rushed last-minute reviews that didn't stick.

Distraction during lessons sometimes led to missed instructions and lost confidence mid-task.

Recent Achievements

One Central Coast tutor noticed a real shift in a Year 10 student who used to get stuck and frustrated with algebra; after tackling simultaneous equations using the substitution method, he recognised where he'd struggled before and worked through problems independently for the first time.

In another session, a high schooler who once hesitated to show her working now talks through each maths question out loud and openly asks for help if she's unsure, rather than guessing.

Meanwhile, a Year 3 student surprised her tutor by confidently explaining division concepts while solving problems with larger numbers like 24 and 36.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I think Molly is really getting a lot out of the sessions and a lot of support. I think that she is also a good role model for Molly.

Michelle is awesome and has taught me so much in a short amount of time. She never doubts my level of ability and is always encouraging me to go above and beyond. Her knowledge of specific maths topics is just out of this world. You guys have one awesome lady on your hands!

We have been extremely happy with our son Jacks progress and we are forever thankful for all that Thiru has done teaching and coaching Jack up to speed.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Tuggerah Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Wyong High School.
